A Look at October 2023's Marvel SNAP Bloodstone Season Pass

It's October, meaning Marvel SNAP had to get spooky this month.

Every month, Marvel SNAP fans are treated to a new season pass, relevant rewards, and an all-around theme to every nook and cranny of the fantastically addicting mobile trading card game. For October, they had no choice but to keep it spooky with the Bloodstone event.

It’s easy to get lost in knowing everything going on for the month. So, instead of getting technical, let’s break down all of the sections you should look at if you’re playing Marvel SNAP.

Free Doctor Strange Midnight Suns Variant card

Marvel Snap

From October 3rd to November 6th, you can log into the game and grab a free variant of Doctor Strange. Whether you have his base card or not, you get him. The variant is in collaboration with the recent Marvel’s Midnight Suns game and you can use him directly in your deck right now!

Considering you don’t normally get Doctor Strange right out the gate in the game, he can be a really useful and powerful card to add to your Spiderverse or “move” deck. He runs as a 3-cost, 3-power card. But, his ability is an “On Reveal” that pulls your highest power cards to his location.

Bloodstone Season Pass

This month is about the monster hunter Elsa Bloodstone in the season pass. You get her base card at level 1 if you purchase the pass. But hitting level 50 gets you her badass Nightforged variant.

In addition, you can earn Nightforged variants of both Ghost Rider and Blade during the pass and a ton of boosters, matching avatars for each, cardbacks, gold, and credits. A lot of these are also unlockable for those that spend no money.

If you’re into collecting titles like I am, you’ll have fun with some spooky-themed ones this month. At level 9, you earn “Nightstalking From Home”. At level 27, the Ghost Rider-focused “But Does Your Chain Do THIS?” is earned by both season pass purchasers and free users. At 44, you get “Blood Type: Delicious”.

Cards and variants released in October

A total of five cards are expected to be released with the Halloween-based Bloodstone theme. Elsa Bloodstone, as mentioned, is one of them. She’s a 2-cost, 2-power card with an ability that states that “If you play another card to fill a location, give it +3 Power”. This is an excellent card for decks that you tend to fill locations in any way.

The other four cards will come out weekly as part of Collector’s Caches and Weekly Spotlight. Man-Thing is a 4-cost, 5-power card with an Ongoing ability that punishes low-cost cards. The ability states that “1, 2, and 3-Cost cards here have -2 Power”, which can really mess with your opponent that has likely already placed a handful of their lower-cost cards by then.

Marvel Snap

Speaking of low-cost, Black Knight comes in as a 1-cost, 2-power card. His ability focuses on “Discard” decks. “After you discard a card, add the Ebony Blade to your hand with that card’s Power.” The Ebony Blade is 4-cost but can be devastating if you’re running Helicarrier or Apocalypse in your deck.

Marvel Snap

Nico Minoru seems like a great chaos deck addition. She’s a quick play card at only 1-cost. But her ability is really chaotic and fun. “On Reveal: After you play your next card, cast a spell. (The spell changes each turn.)” The spells are so random and varied that it’d be really fun to team up with Agatha Harkness.

Werewolf By Night, the last card here, is a 3-cost, 3-power beast fit for a devastating “move” deck with many “On Reveal” cards. “After you play an On Reveal card at another location, move there and gain +2 Power.” Just keep a slot open for him to move back and forth.

Bloodstone Ranked Rewards

Marvel Snap

There is always a formula for the Ranked Rewards each season. Your ultimate goal is to hit 100 Infinite and get that special Infinite Blade card back this month.

As someone that is good, but not that good, I always make it a point to hit level 40 in Ranked at the least to get the free title. This month, the earned title there is “You Gonna Finish That Neck?”.

Shop

As with the Midnight Suns variant of Doctor Strange, some Midnight Suns collaboration can be found in the shop at any given time as well. In fact, a full takeover of the Shop happened from October 11th to the 13th with the theme.

Not only did several popular cards like Wolverine and Captain Marvel get Midnight Suns variants, but they also included Tarot-themed variants for many major characters and cards. For instance, Death has a, well, Death-themed tarot card variant. Deadpool, rightfully, was The Fool variant. And so on. They were 1200 gold each.

While the event ended already, they will now show up randomly in daily rotation, similar to other timed variants. So, if you missed them, keep an eye out.

Marvel Snap

You can see Magik in the Shop all month long under the “Magik’s Birthday Party” bundle. This one will cost some real money at $14.99, though. It offers the Midnight Suns Magik, 155 Magik boosters, a matching avatar, 1500 gold, 750 credits, and a “TSA Took My Soulsword” title. In terms of bang for the buck, this isn’t half bad.

In addition, last month’s Loki For All Time season still has some related content hitting this month with Season 2 of the Loki Disney+ show now out. At the time of writing, there is a bundle for 7500 gold called “Form and Function” that includes a Jet Ski variant of Mobius M. Mobius and a Sylvie variant of Enchantress.

Conquest Medal Shop

For the hardcore of the hardcore, Conquest is a fantastic way to show off your skills in the game. The medal shop earns you special rewards, such as the title “Your Cubes, Give Them To Me”, as well as mystery variants and boosters.

Marvel Snap

You'll unlock a Midnight Suns Iron Man variant by making 9 purchases using earned medals from Conquest. He’s wearing black and gold armor on the card and looks great.

Marvel SNAP is available on Android, iOS, and Steam for PC.
