As the Grim Dawn team ramps up to the forthcoming expansion, a series of Grim Misadventure articles is being published to introduce players to some of the new systems. In the latest blog post, the team introduces item-granted skill modifiers, essentially items being able to modify and enhance Mastery skills. They can introduce new effects, debuffs or utterly change the way a Mastery skill behaves.
To show how the new system will work in the expansion, a series of items are shown with the new modifiers applied. These special items will drop on Monster Infrequent and Legendary gear.
A keen eye might also notice that several of these items are boosting three different skills instead of the usual two. This is another change coming in the expansion for the new higher level items. Most unique items will support 2-3 masteries instead of 1-2, expanding your build options dramatically.
