Gigantic Articles
Motiga has a new post about how the Gigantic team is preparing the game for the future. Based on feedback from both the closed beta community and the core community that participates in actual development of the game, developers will be focused on a number of tasks to prepare the game for another round of testing.
A new article has been posted on the Motiga web site by Chris Chung that reveals that a significant percentage of the studio staff has been temporarily laid off. The letter goes on to say that the company intends to continue to support Gigantic, but that the lay offs will have a huge impact on every portion of the game.
Beginning today, Gigantic closed beta testers can begin to write, speak about and stream their experiences with the game during the ongoing 24/7 closed beta test. Gigantic Beta 2.0 has just been introduced that brings the Crew (party) system on board, cross platform play between Win10 and XBox One players and the new progression system with its in-game currencies and account-wide benefits are also included.
Motiga is ready to hit the ground running and to get things off with a bang by introducing Gigantic's newest hero, Beckett. We're not joking when we say 'get things off with a bang' as Beckett is armed to the teeth with just about every type of firearm and explosive imaginable.
The Gigantic team took to Reddit last week to answer community questions about the recent revelations of company layoffs and the delay of the game. Questions ranged from whether or not the presence of an NDA hurt Gigantic's visibility to new gameplay modes to a content release timeline.
Motiga's Creative Director James Phinney has penned a new developer letter on the company's site that discusses the vision behind Gigantic, that it is something unique and special. It is, he writes, "not re-imagining the last big thing. We are striving to build the next big thing."
Motiga's development team is sadly shrinking as the end of the year approaches. Due to feedback from Gigantic testers, the difficult decision was made to push the release of the game into 2016. Consequently, and with resources stretched thin, the painful decision was also made to reduce the staff by sixteen.
This week on Game On, Chris and Ryan are joined by Allie Murdock of Motiga to discuss their upcoming genre-blender, Gigantic. If you're a fan of MOBAs, shooters, or PvPvE MMO battlegrounds, this is an episode you won't want to miss!
We’ve been covering Motiga’s Gigantic for what seems an age, and yet I’ve never been fortunate enough to play the thing. This year’s PAX Prime changed that, and I am really glad it did. With my Player Coaches over my shoulder (I wish I’d gotten their names!) I charged into battle with Lord Knossos and never looked back.
Motiga has announced that Gigantic has entered closed beta testing, with interested players invited to sign up as potential testers. Gigantic is ready for Windows 10 and XBox one players to take part, along with French, German, English and Spanish support.
It’s been almost a year since Motiga’s action-brawler-shooter-MOBA entered alpha. With closed beta just around the corner, we caught up with Creative Director James Phinney at Gamescom. In a packed interview, we discussed the technical challenges the studio has faced, how depth, strategy and skill has been baked in, the deal with Microsoft, and more.
Motiga has announced that Gigantic will be exclusively released later this year for XBox One and for PC Window 10 systems. Gigantic will feature "Cross-Play" support as well.
The latest hero from Gigantic has been revealed on the game's official site. Her name is Imani and according to her description, she is a sneaky sniper. Fighting from range, Imani can deal massive damage before making herself invisible and beating a hasty retreat.
Recently, at PAX East, I had an opportunity to play Gigantic, Motiga's upcoming entry into the “Action-MOBA” genre. Let's start by getting a few things straight, when I say an action-MOBA, I do not mean a LOL or DOTA clone. This is the new breed of MOBA, more in the style of Smite, which means immersive third-person action, where every attack is a skill-shot.
A new pair of heroes has entered the Gigantic alpha test. Both are magicians, Griselma a summoner and Mozo a purveyor of the electrical and arcane.
