Maingear Computers + MMORPG

Today, we’re pleased to announce that Maingear Computers has become an official sponsor for MMORPG.com. Straight out of New Jersey, USA, Maingear has quickly risen to become one of the most sought after and well-respected custom PC companies in the market. Read on for the details of our partnership, and what we hope it means for you all down the road.

It’s no secret that traditional advertising is dying on the vine, as Ad Blockers become increasingly prevalent in our business. To that end, we’re excited to be able to find other ways to fund the operation of MMORPG.com, and sponsorships are one such solution. Our own Garrett Fuller has been friends with the Maingear guys in New Jersey since they first opened up shop. Since those early years back in 2002 when CEO Wallace Santos began the company, Maingear has risen to become one of the premiere custom PC builders in the industry. Valve even tapped them to be one of the first companies to produce a Steam Box later this year (see the Drift).

So when Wallace asked us if we’d like to officially be sponsored by Maingear, we jumped at the chance. We know the bulk of our readers are PC gaming enthusiasts, and the partnership seemed like a natural fit. At the outset, you’ll see Maingear logos on our videos, and eventually sponsored content like the above video on the site.  You’ll also likely see advertisements from Maingear, as well as exclusive sweepstakes and giveaways from Maingear and their part suppliers (such as Nvidia, Samsung, Asus, and more).

Garrett’s owned Maingear PCs for years now, and the company has graciously agreed to provide our staff with new systems and builds to make content and use to preview games as they come out.  They are providing these systems free of charge, and we will review them from top to bottom in the coming weeks and months. Wallace and his guys know that if we have issues with the builds or parts, we won’t be pulling punches.  He believes that it’s our right and obligation to offer sincere and honest editorials to our audience, as it’s one of the reasons he’s been coming to our site for over a decade himself.

We’ll also be doing reviews and news on more hardware as we can, and in turn we’ll be offering up those review units in giveaways here at the site.  Which we think is a great way to pass the goodwill of these companies on to you, our readers.

We hope you agree that this sponsorship is a decent way for us to gain additional revenue for the site, in lite of the recent woes with Ad Blockers. It’s one of what we hope will be many partnerships to keep us delivering you content for the next decade of MMORPGs.  If you have any questions or suggestions for how we can best leverage this sponsorship and make it worthwhile to you, our readers, we welcome them here.

They get visibility for their goods, and we get revenue to keep paying our staff. In my own eyes, I like this way of keeping the site funded better than the big-boobed ad skins we usually see… though I’m betting they won’t be disappearing anytime soon either. J

Cheers to you all, and give us your feedback!
