Today we’d like to introduce you to a new feature we’ve recently launched here at MMORPG.com: User Features & Reviews. While we work diligently each day to bring you great content in many forms, we recognize that you’d like to contribute your own content to the site and so we’re excited to launch this new feature.

Below you’ll find an overview and quick guide to MMORPG.com User Features & Reviews:

The User Features & Reviews system will allow registered MMORPG.com members to create their own feature articles and reviews for any game on our game list. You’ll be able to publish reviews, previews, trial and beta impressions (make sure the NDA is up first!), and even guides.

There are a number of guidelines and rules that we expect you to follow when adding contributing features to the site, please be sure to review them when putting together your article. Outside of these rules and guidelines you’ll be glad to know that the User Features & Reviews system is actually peer-reviewed and members can upvote/downvote individual features ensuring that the cream rises to the top.

Getting started is simple: All you have to do is access your user profile and click over to Game Reviews and Features. This screen will allow you to review all the content you’ve created here at MMORPG.com as well as allow you to create new features. To begin writing a new feature, simply click the “Create Your Feature” button. From here the interface is fairly self-explanatory, but let’s go ahead and break it down anyways:

Feature Type:

  • Game Review:  Just like our MMORPG.com reviews, you too can now create your own reviews in a similar format.  Once you’ve written up your review you can score the game using the Score dropdown and even list up to five pros and cons.
  • Game Guide: You know your favorite games best, so why not share that knowledge with the rest of the community? Our most prolific guide writers can expect to see their guides featured prominently and even earn titles!
  • Game Preview:  Get some hands-on time with an upcoming game at a fan show or event? Share your experience with your fellow community members. How is the game coming along?  Does it show promise? Let us know!
  • Trial Impressions:  Many MMOs offer gamers still on the fence the chance to sample the game with a free trial. Let us know whether or not the free trial impressed you or even got you to sign up for/ purchase the game!
  • Beta Impressions:  Give your fellow MMORPG.com members the skinny on your beta experiences with an upcoming game, but please ensure that the beta test is not protected under a Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA) before you submit your impressions.

Game:

Choose from one of over 400 games listed here at MMORPG.com to write your feature on!

Title:

Try to keep your feature title concise and to the point, this helps users quickly find what they’re looking for.

Overview:

Tease your article with a brief overview so that your fellow readers can get a taste for what you’ll be talking about in your article.

Publish Date:

You don’t necessarily have to publish your feature right away. Click “Select Date” and set a specific date or time you’d like your article to go live. Perhaps you’ve been taking part in the closed beta for a hot upcoming game and you’d like to set your Beta Impressions article to coincide with the day the NDA drops.

The Editor:

The editor itself should be familiar to most of you. Use our simple WYSIWYG editor (or click on Source if you’re savvy with HTML) to write up your article, and just like our forums you can spice up your articles with images uploaded to your member gallery.

Once you’re done with your article you can save it and submit it for approval. A staff member will review the feature and approve it as long as it is not in violation of our Rules of Conduct and adheres to the simple guidelines we have set forth.

You can browse the latest user features and reviews by clicking on the Features tab and scrolling down to the User Features section on the left column. Alternatively, you can find user features for a particular game by browsing the Features and Reviews sections of their Game List entry.

We’d like to thank Maaack for writing our first MMORPG.com User Review. Be sure to check it out here!

We’ll be looking to improve on and add to this feature over the coming months so have fun and let us know what you think of the new feature!
