Lore Update: Age of Peace -

The folks over at Fury have released the latest update to the game's back story titled the Age of Peace. In this era, the remnants of Altaian civilization rediscover their Gods and put aside their knowledge of war, living for a thousand years in peace until the magic of their sanctuaries begins to fail.

Age of Peace

For hundreds of years, the Altaians clung to life in the Sanctuaries. They forgot their knowledge of war and re-discovered the worship of the true Gods. Magical combat was totally outlawed in the Sanctuaries, as destructive magic could cause the Sanctuary wards to fail and so the knowledge of this magic was also lost.

Portals were constructed between every Sanctuary and by trading and co-operating, the people managed to survive. By the time a millennium had passed, the Altaians had become a new race, calling themselves the Sorelans.

Yet, many remnants of Altaian civilization remained. The Sanctuaries became known as Realms and each was named for the Kingdom that had founded it. Altaian songs and stories survived, as did the legend of the Chosen.

Unfortunately for the Sorelan people, their lives of peace would not last forever. After many years of protecting them, the ancient wards that surrounded the Sanctuaries began to weaken and fail.

Numerous Realms were lost forever to the Fade, until the problem was finally discovered.

The great magical crystals that protected the sanctuaries were finally running out of energy and new Essence was required to sustain them.
