Freesky Online Overview
Freesky Online was a browser-based strategy MMO from IGG. The game's standout feature was its aerial combat, but terrestrial aspects of the game included typical strategy elements like resource gathering, research, and empire growth. Players, their empires, cities and castles leveled up through these activities, instead of the usual MMO combination of questing and hunting. The developers claimed that steady advancement was possible in 10 minutes a day. The two types of empires players were able to choose to build were commerical and military, and these two would clash. PvP centered around these clashes, and more advanced steps such as alliances were available. Once players learned to build them, airships became the primary weapon in taking over land and keeping one's empire safe.
The game's story concerned the development of the New Continent, derived from a place called Erl, which though advanced, could not avoid destruction by the mysterious "Freesky." Graphically, the game ran in a browser using Flash and Java, and thus required no download. The game had an optional cash shop, but was otherwise free to play.
