Learn All About 'Towns, Governors & Politics' in Newest KickStarter Update - MMORPG.com

The latest KickStarter update has been published on the Fractured site. Readers will learn about the different ways that players can experience the game including being a "lone wolf" to hundreds of players living together in a player-created town. As the blog says, "having a base of operation is something really desirable for all players".

Once cities and towns exist, a political structure can be put into place with elected leaders taking on a number of roles. Those who purchase the KickStarter Governor Pack will automatically be able to claim, and run, either a "free town" or a "guild town" in designated locations.

In order to have a firm basis for a feature like this, developers believe that a "sound housing system is pretty much mandatory for a proper sandbox MMO". That in mind, Dynamight detailed a number of objectives for Fractured:

  • Players should be able to be self-sufficient even without being part of a town…
  • …but being a citizen of a town should have obvious advantages over living on one’s own.
  • Towns should be a crucial point of contention for guilds…
  • …but Guild Masters should not be the only people who matter in the political landscape. Town rules and citizens should matter as much, if not more.
  • All-out war (aside from Arboreus) should always be an option…
  • …but not the only one, as commonly seen in the MMO genre.

The game world will be divided into a number of sections, only some of which can be claimed by players:

  • Town Area - predefined locations that used to be a city or town before the Fracture. These can be "reclaimed" by players for a new settlement.
  • Free Area - homes can be freely built anywhere in these zones
  • Claimed Area - land around a player home that other players can enter, but not build on
  • Neutral Area - all player buildings are forbidden
