A 12-year-old Fortnite YouTube streamer has been the victim of a recent "swatting" event after his channel followers spiked in a very short period of time. The boy, "Rolly Ranches", was playing a match with Cizzorz, another YTer with over 800k subscribers. Cizzorz sent his fans to Varady's channel which raised the latter's numbers from about 400 followers to over 85k. Apparently this didn't sit well with some folks.

On Sunday, February 18th, police arrived at Rolly Ranches's home after receiving a call telling them that the boy and his mother were going to commit suicide. Police arrived and determined there was no cause for intervention. Later, Rolly Ranches spoke tearfully saying, "I'm not sure I can even go on with YouTube anymore", though he has since changed his mind.

It is unknown at this time if police have any leads on the location or name of the caller who initiated the swatting incident.

For his part, Cizzorz spoke on Twitter:

You may remember that late in 2017, Kansas police were called to the home of a Call of Duty player in another swatting "prank" that led to the man's death after he was shot by police. The caller has since been extradited to Kansas from California and is in jail awaiting trial.

Fellow YouTuber 'Moot' has published a video discussion of this specific issue and the more general issue of swatting.
