According to a post on the Final Fantasy XIV forum, Brazilian and Russian players have had a massive monthly price increase on Steam. One poster has discovered that monthly sub fees have gone from about $9 per month to $13.40 per month. Meanwhile, Russian players have seen a price increase from about $5 per month to $15 per month. According to Square Enix customer support, this was done to "bring prices using these currencies in-line with the global pricing structure".
Players are also reporting to the same percent increases on the MogStation itself. Items here include emotes, dyes, etc.
Seventy-seven pages of responses indicate the level of unhappiness from the player base. Many cite the fact that the price change was never announced, nor is it published on the FFXIV EU site.

While there are certainly different perspectives, your tone with each other has been respectful, which allows this discussion to continue. As you have pointed out, we recently made adjustments to how prices in Brazilian Real and Russian Rubles are calculated for Steam users. These changes were made to bring prices using these currencies in-line with the global pricing structure based on current exchange rates. In addition, these adjustments mean that prices now accurately reflect the pricing provided on our other official channels and currencies. Thank you again for your understanding and patience while I worked to get this information for you.
