Final Fantasy XIV is gearing up for a its anticipated 5.1 patch, and today the team detailed changes coming to the mentor system with the new update.
In the post, FFXIV details what's changing with Mentors as the new patch hits. Specifically, changes to the features available to both battle mentors and trade mentors.
Until now, the features available to battle mentors and trade mentors were largely the same. However, patch 5.1 introduces the following changes:
<p mdl-space--48"="">* Prior to the update, all mentors had the option to change their online status to “Mentor.”
- Those who achieve mentor certification as a Disciple of the Land or Hand can change their online status to “Trade Mentor.” Certification as a trade mentor no longer grants access to Duty Roulette: Mentor.
Additionally, the requirements to become a battle mentor are changing with the 5.1 patch. Before players needed only 300 player commendations to do so, but with 5.1 the requirement has been increased dramatically to 1500 player recommendations. Trade mentors won't have any changes to their requirements.
For any player currently a mentor in Final Fantasy XIV, you'll need to renew your mentorship between the time 5.1 hits through the end of December.
