FFXIV Patch 5.1 Rundown - MMORPG.com

This news piece was written by Jonathan White.

In case you missed it, the newest FFXIV Letter from the Producer was revealed live on Twitch over the weekend. There was a lot to cover, so let’s dive right into it.

Patch 5.1 is titled Vows of Virtue, Deeds of Cruelty and is slated to release at the end of October 2019. This will continue the main storyline from where Shadowbringers left off. This will also bring in a new level 80 dungeon called The Grand Cosmos – which you can run with other players or use the trust system, provided you’ve taken the time to level them up.

We’re also finally getting the Nier Automata Raid, which is called The Copied City. Hype! Apparently, there’s also going to be an Ultimate difficulty trial added, but there weren’t any details for that just yet.

In addition to the new story content, raid, and dungeon, there’s also going to be a lot of other things added that people have been asking for. There are going to be some job changes, including changes to make Summoner less confusing, buffs for ranged DPS, and tweaks to Ninja’s ninjutsu which will hopefully make it a little easier to keep up with, as they’re trailing behind other melee DPS who have far less actions to perform. Perhaps my favorite part of this update is going to be an increase to level 60 for Blue Mage, as well as finally giving you a reason to play with other Blue Mages, including assigned duties and allied seals, tomestones, and bonus rewards that will alternate each week. I’m a big fan of the blue mage, and anything that makes it playable again makes me super excited.

We’re finally getting the New Game Plus mode which will allow you to go back through the previously completed story, as well as Fellowships (cause the group chat system sucks) for making friends with players not in your Free Company/world. There will also be some changes to PVP as well as some adjustments to make crafting and gathering more attractive to newer players – which is a good thing, especially gathering because mining/botany both straight up suck and are mindlessly dull.

Along side all of that, there will also be some QoL changes, such as weapons for completing dungeons, bicolor gemstone cap being doubled (thank God), the ability to eat meals without being forced to stand, the pet window returning to the party list, a new game launcher, and a whole bunch of other things.

To see a full list of what all is included with patch 5.1, you can watch the presentation via the link above, or you can check out this in-depth write-up from Nova Crystallis.
