The Final Fantasy XIV Lodestone has been updated with a new player's guide to the game. Included in the guide are topics such as buying from the adventurer's bazaar, selling items, repairing equipment and more. The guide comes complete with step-by-step instructions and detailed images.


Fun, Live, Reboot, and Rebuild

In a new blog post at the Final Fantasy XIV Lodestone, Producer and Director Naoki Yoshida issues the four words "Fun, Live, Reboot, and Rebuild" as the clarion call for the development team in 2011. He calls the final weeks of 2010 "tumultuous" but assures fans and players that the team is ready to hit the ground running in 2011 beginning with a Player's Poll.


Site Updates

The Final Fantasy Lodestone has been updated with a trio of articles. Two offer extensive assistance to those who are new adventuring in Eorzea. A new player guide has been written and a series of articles has been published with a Q&A format to help guide the uninitiated through the game's ins and outs. The Final Fantasy XIV team has produced a handy guide on how to use the recently implemented Item Search function that arrived with the game update earlier this week. The guide walks players through the entire process. The guide is packed with screens and information. Additionally, devs list out several bugs associated with the new implementation.


Item Search Function Coming

The Final Fantasy XIV Lodestone has been updated with information about the final patch version of 2010 scheduled to go live on Tuesday, December 21st. The patch will bring the 'item search function' into the game that allows players to search quickly through retainer bazaars in market wards to find the specific items they're looking to purchase.


Comprehensive Update Part 1 Detailed

The Final Fantasy XIV Lodestone has been updated with the full details of the just-released Comprehensive Game Update. Included in the notes is information about quest enhancements, battle fixes and item improvements.


New Update Slated for Wednesday

The Final Fantasy XIV Lodestone has a new article about the update slated to go live on servers on Wednesday, December 15th. Servers will be down from 3:00-6:00 p.m. to bring the new patch online. Features scheduled to be updated include the UI, monsters, new recipes and more.


New Monsters & the Starlight Celebration

The first centers around monster distribution issues and the introduction of Goblins and Flan in December. The second article goes into detail about the upcoming Starlight Celebration slated to run from December 15-31, 2010.


Dev Team Restructured

According to a new announcement on the Final Fantasy XIV Lodestone, the development team has been restructured to bring an improved experience to players. Taking the helm as the game's producer and director is Naoki Yoshida. According to the post, Yoshida is 'passionate' about customer service. It was also revealed that the PlayStation 3 version of FFXIV will be delayed past the March 2011 target date.

Devs Detail Feature & UI Changes

Final Fantasy XIV developers have produced a detailed look at the upcoming changes in the user interface, chat feature, text commands and targeting. After publishing the article on November 17th, devs also took time to answer several questions from the community to come in the first large update tentatively scheduled for November 25th.


Free Trial Extended

The Final Fantasy XIV development team has announced that the game's free trial period for another thirty days. Devs indicated that this was to thank players for their support. Any player who registers an account or purchases a character on or before November 19th is eligible for the extended thirty day free trial.


Large Scale Updates on the Way

Square Enix Takes Massive Financial Hit

In its latest financial report, Square Enix's earnings were down over 75% in the first half of 2010 as compared to the second half of 2009. Sales were reported down 30% in the first six months of 2010. The first half of 2010 generated $21 million as compared to $85 million in the the latter part of 2009. Sales were slightly better than originally projected, however, due to decent sales of Just Cause 2 and Final Fantasy XIV.


A Message from the Director

Final Fantasy XIV game director, Nobuaki Komoto, has penned what would be called a 'state of the game' letter on the official site. In the message, Komoto begins the discussion with news that the dev team plans large-scale updates to the game every three months and that they have indeed been listening to player feedback. To that end, Komoto addresses several key issues: UI adjustments, party based battle balancing, server lag, and distribution of enemies.
