fetarnox writes: IMHO, the absolute best MMORPG game to have been released to the world of gaming ever. I know this is an astonishing statement to make, but I have more pleasurable memories while in this game, than I have ever had in any other MMORPG...and I have played so very many overs the years. The player community is top notch. The world is dizzyingly imaginative and the lore convincing. The storyline, though at times juvenile, is very well-planned. And mostly every other aspect of the game is quite exceptional (and I mean this in a good way). Even after the changes they made fairly recently, I can still pick up the game and feel the immersive delight of solo/group combat...and of the beautiful world of Vana'diel. Nothing is lost from the Final Fantasy franchise in this installment, and everything is gained. I would suggest this game to anyone who has ever enjoyed a Square Enix/Square Soft game ever...whether it be one of the classics, or one of the newer games. However, if the newest graphics are what you are looking for, then FFXI is not where you should stake your hopes. But if you are an old-school MMO player who likes "depth" rather than "appearance"...than look no further! This game also makes the best bridge in between the old "turn-based" party dynamic, and the newer command based combat system (often equated to the "face-roll" or "spam X-ability repeatedly" game)...and this balancing act is the best that I have ever seen in an online game. Let's face it, an alternative to these two styles of play ("face-roll" and "autopilot") is desperately needed for the contemporary MMO player, and Final Fantasy is precisely where this legacy of interactive balance begins. Indeed, if you haven't tried this game yet...then what in the blazes are you waiting for? Go pick up a copy today and join all of us in the merry land of Vana'diel! Thank you for reading. DarkHyunkel writes: Right now, FF XI has reached new summits: it is fun, solo/small group friendly and it takes a few days/weeks (depending on your playtime) to reach cap level, which wasn't possible until the Abysseas add-ons. This gmae has survived 9 years from WoW and his clones, still get new people playing and still has a mature and fun community. Mon May 16 2011 12:58PM

The UI can be difficult to learn for a new player as its unlike any other mmo I've ever tried. Everything is done via keyboard and in fact if you leave your mouse plugged in it can hinder you. I thought I'd known bad customer service till I played this game. This isn't a single bad incident either.. everybody who has ever contacted them for support has a horror story.
