Summer Game Fest's Opening Showcase kicks off today with game reveals and news from over 40 different companies across the industry. What are you hoping to see today from the festivities?
We know a few of the games that will be at the showcase for sure, with Throne and Liberty confirming their presence as part of the showcase, as well as Mortal Kombat 1, the next iteration in that legendary franchise. Given that host and creator Geoff Keighley has teased some of the publishers, from Amazon Games, Electronic Arts, Larian, and more, we're likely going to see news from games in the pipeline and premieres from those we don't even know existed.
Curiously, a few MMO company names are there, from Smilegate, Nexon, and Pearl Abyss, as well as the aforementioned Throne and Liberty, which is being published by Amazon Games (also on the official list of publishers present). Path of Exile developer Grinding Gear Games is also confirmed as part of the Not-E3 festivities, so it'll be interesting to see exactly what they are bringing to the table here.
Personally, I'd love to see some news about Capcom's upcoming Exoprimal, the online, team-based action title that sees players duke it out with dinosaurs. Hopefully, we'll learn more as we head into the homestretch towards its July 14th launch.
