Another year, another exciting Calpheon Ball!
Black Desert has always been one of the best MMOs when it comes to throwing candy at people, as well as constantly updating its quality of life and ease of access. It is a completely different game than it was years ago, and for the better. This Calpheon Ball solidifies that, while also keeping track with new content and updates, along with two new classes on the horizon!

Now, on to the content!
New classes: Maegu and Woosa (totally not a Bad Boys reference)
They are advertised as the first twin classes to be released in Black Desert. Heavily inspired by Korean folklore, Woosa will be released first to the PC and console version first, with Maegu being released on Mobile for now. Woosa resembles very Sorceress-like movement, with quick casting spells in both the mid and close range. She is extremely flashy, seems fairly quick and mobile, and even comes with an AP buff and DP debuff. I will certainly try her out on release, and she looks like everything I wanted Sorceress to be!
Next, we have the new region, Land of the Morning Light. This region will tentatively release in Korea in Mid-February, and in other regions afterwards. This region is located in the extreme north continent, past the former Port Ratt, now named Nampo Harbor. This region will function differently than most others and feature “boss rush” monsters. Each boss you encounter will have elaborate mechanics, and will also feature guild co-op versions. There will be eight of these bosses, and can also be soloed.
Fallen God Gloves will also be released, adding yet another to the armor collection of this tier. Not much to add here as it’ll be a step up from other boss gloves as usual. There will also be a new Crystal, called Bonghwang’s Tear. (All AP+2, All Accuracy+3, All Damage Reduction+5, All Evasion+7, Max HP+75, Max MP/WP/SP+50, Max Stamina +50, Extra AP Against Monsters+2, Monster Damage Reduction+2, Extra all Special attack Damage +0.5%, Special Attack Evasion Rate+0.5%, All Resistance+2%, Ignore All Resistance+2%, Combat/Skill Exp +30%, Item Drop Rate+5%)
That’s a lot of stats, whew. It will surely be a BiS crystal, but the caveat is that you are only allowed to equip one into an exclusive socket.
After this, there are a slew of quality-of-life updates:
- Silver will now be family-wide. No more sifting through alts!
- Shakatu Seals will be reworked to allow for more satisfying rewards.
- Crystal Presets will be available “very soon”, likely showing up in Global Lab first.
- DP brackets will be looked at, as PA is not currently happy with how DP functions in PvP
- Arena of Solare Season 2 will begin on December 28th
- There are plans to update sea and sailing content, along with the Phereia Dreadnaught ship in the works.
- Being able to open boxes while mounted
- You will now be able to change characters and the UI when the first character on your account reaches level 10 (finally!)
- Multiple improvements will be made to guilds, including but not limited to reworking contract payouts and incentive payments.
- The blinking effect when you are low HP will be changed ASAP
Calpheon Ball never ceases to hit hard with the upcoming content and new features. Black Desert is so good at doing this, it often surprises me how they continue to do it every year. What feature are you the most excited about?
