Law Firm Investigating Bethesda & Fallout 76 for Possible 'Deceptive Trade Practices'

Law Firm Investigating Bethesda & Fallout 76 for Possible 'Deceptive Trade Practices' - MMORPG.com

A Washington D.C.-based law firm called Migliaccio & Rathod LLP is reportedly investigating Bethesda for "deceptive trade practices". The firm is heavily vested in consumer protection law as evidenced by case studies in civil rights, environmental contamination, and unfair and deceptive trade practices. The investigation into Bethesda is based on players seemingly being unable to receive refunds for their purchases and for "releasing a heavily-glitched game".

Migliaccio & Rathod LLP is currently investigating Bethesda Game Studios for releasing a heavily-glitched game, Fallout 76, and refusing to issue refunds for PC purchasers of the game who found it to be unplayable because of its technical problems. While minor bugs and glitches are expected with the release of most new games, Fallout 76 launched with a 56GB patch that has proven to be but a starting point for the game’s problems. Gamers who have tried to receive a refund because of the game’s myriad glitches have been unable to do so since they downloaded the game, leaving them to deal with an unplayable experience until patches bring it back to a playable state.

The post on the Migliaccio & Rathod LLP site provides disgruntled players with a telephone number and email address and indicates that the firm's representatives "would like to speak" with them.

The investigation is likely being conducted as a result of many Fallout 76 players trying to obtain a refund for the purchase price of the game. In at least one case, the player was told that they would receive a refund only to have the offer removed a day later.

Greetings, Thank you for contacting the Bethesda Support Team. Customers who have downloaded the game are not eligible for a refund. We apologize for the inconvenience. If there is anything else we can assist you with please reply to this email for further assistance. Thank you for your patience. Kind Regards, Bethesda Support
