While Fallen Earth Might Be Going Offline, Developer Reboot Rekindles Hope In Fans

Fallen Earth, the sci-fi based MMORPG developed most recently by Little Orbit, will be shutting down on October 2nd, per a post by the developer on the official forums.

In the post, Matt Scott details some of the reasons why Fallen Earth will be taken offline.

Unfortunately after weeks of monitoring things and getting players feedback, I have determined the current state of Fallen Earth just isn't sustainable in its current form.

You guys have been very tolerant, but the player experience is terrible right now. It's laggy and buggy. Servers crash quite often, and stacking is still disabled due to exploits.

I don't blame the player base for the low concurrency numbers. You need a better game to play.

However, he did stoke the flames of hope, mentioning he is still committed to the new version of the game. This new version was talked about earlier this year in a lengthy "State of the Game" blog post by Matt showing an extensive roadmap and vision for the reboot. In his recent post, Matt mentions he's still "committed to the new version of the game that we have been working on." However, he was unable to provide a road map or timeline for the new version of Fallen Earth

Players will have one last celebration, though, as Matt also detailed an Anniversary event for Fallen Earth. While he didn't go into detail exactly what was planned for the celebration, players can use this event as one last chance to enjoy the world of Fallen Earth

Fallen Earth's Anniversary event will start prior to September 22nd, though no exact date has been given.
