Exarch Overview
Exarch was a sci-fi fantasy MMORPG in development from Realm Interactive. Mixing sci-fi and fantasy elements in a world of advanced technology, the game featured traditional RPG combat with mouse movement and many instanced quests. These quests stood out as they would present a variety of outcomes and circumstances for different players. The game included typical fantasy weapons like bows alongside modern and futuristic equipment like cyborg implants and guns, making the game's options pretty varied. There were three planned races, with several classes between them.
Exarch was in its second development phase when it was canceled by Realm in 2004, having originally been called Trade Wars: Dark Millennium in its first phase. Subsequently, NCSoft picked production back up, assigning its third and final team to the project, adding humorous elements, changing several mechanics and details, and renaming it Dungeon Runners. Dungeon Runners received strong reviews but wasn't profitable, and was shut down on January 1, 2010.
