It's funny just how much of our lives are lived online. Whether it's email for work, research for school, shopping, chatting, playing MMOs or some other kind of activity, we're spending more and more time in front of our monitors. It seems only fitting then that one of the most important events in a person's life would be making its way into the digital age.

At their recent Fan Faire in, appropriately, Las Vegas, Sony Online Entertainment hosted the "first-ever live and virtual wedding ceremony for two attendees who are avid players of the top-selling SOE title EverQuest II".

The couple, who are from Chicago, IL had been together for four years at the time of the event. The groom, Nathan Davalos, is 31 years old and makes his living as a Project Manager, while his bride, Kelly Kane-Davalos makes her living as a Quality Assurance Engineer and is 46.

When you read a wedding announcement in your local newspaper, the above is often all of the information that they give you. This though, is a special case. It is, after all, the "first-ever live and virtual wedding ceremony".

Both bride and groom are members of the same guild, Aggro Fish. The groom plays a Paladin, while his new wife plays a Swashbuckler. Most interestingly though, is the fact that the virtual Groom is Human, while the virtual Bride is a High Elf. Wonder if we'll see any half-elven children in the future...
