Xbox Games Showcase 2024 Live Blog - Come Catch All Of Microsoft's Big Announcements

And that's a wrap, folks. Some multiplayer stuff, mostly what looks like single player games from team Xbox. What was your favorite announcement this morning?

Gears of War -  a young Marcus Fenix? And a younger Dom!  Gears of War: E-Day is coming...whenever because Xbox didn't say when.

There are new consoles coming, with an all digital Xbox Series X and an expanded storage Xbox Series X.

Gameplay of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl looks pretty incredible in all its FPS glory. We see both gunplay, but also grappling with other characters, walking through character hubs, fighting mutants and more. Coming on September 5th.

Assasin's Creed Shadows got a gameplay trailer, showcasing some ninja action from Naoe and some brutal swordplay from the samurai Yasuke. Definitely good to see some gameplay after the cinematic reveal. It definitely looks like an Assassin's Creed game, and I'm excited to get my hands on that Kunai with chain. Coming November 15th.

Avowed, the upcoming RPG from Obsidian, got a gameplay trailer, showcasing some of the sights you'll see in game, but also a brief overview of some of the story and setting of the RPG.

It definitely looks like an Obsidian RPG - and I'm definitely interested. Still no concrete release date, though.

Wuchang: The Fallen Feathers is an upcoming soulslike action RPG coming in 2025. The gameplay looks pretty good, though obviously still needs some polish it seems. But the aesthetic is definitely on point.

Mechabreak, a multiplayer Gundam-style game is coming in 2025, with a beta set for August 2024.

Indiana Jones got a trailer, with younger Harrison Ford looking and sounding great. I'm not the biggest Indiana Jones fan, but I really hope this one does well. And it looks like the Nazis are still the villains, which means we get to punch them again.

Life is Strange, from Square Enix and Deck Nine, sees our protagonist investigate parallel worlds. Solve and prevent the same murder across two timelines on October 29th.

The Elder Scrolls Online released a new trailer showcasing 10 years of Tamriel. The latest chapter update, Gold Road, launched last Monday on PC and is coming to console this June 18th. For a limited time you can play all DLC for free.

Microsoft Flight Simulator is getting some cool updates, namely a career service, such as agricultural aviation, commercial aviation, search and rescue, and more.  And like everything in Flight Simulator, it looks downright photo-realistic.

I really want to try the Red Bull Air Races now.

Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 is coming this November 19th.

Mixtape is up next, a game that looks ripped right out of an 80s movie. Like, this is literally ripped out of every 80s summer movie I've ever seen.

Next is a 5v5, Card-based live service shooter were the cards can change how the game plays and feels, from enlarging player heads to growing some grass to touch. Fragpunk is coming 2025.

Ooooooo Fable. Some in-game footage of Fable was shown off with a new trailer, this time with the world's greatest hero (retired), Humphrey, narrating.

Apparently you do get to meet Humphrey in the game, with the trailer showing the hero character as a sort of scion on his. Also, if the game looks as good in motion as it does in these trailers, I can't wait. Coming 2025.

Man, Diablo IV is a really dark game...as if we hadn't already known this. The new trailer for its upcoming expansion, Vessel of Hatred, showcases this in perfect clarity. The upcoming expansion will hit on October 8th.

Perfect Dark has finally seen some life, with a new gameplay trailer showcasing the upcoming reboot of the historic franchise. No release date, though.

Age of Mythology: Retold, an upcoming RTS from World's Edge, is coming to PC and Xbox on September 4th.

Sea of Thieves is getting a new season on July 25th.

Flintlock: The Siege of Dawn is coming July 18th to Game Pass.

Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater got a trailer, with some gameplay thrown in there for good measure.

World of Warcraft is on screen at an Xbox showcase. And that is a sentence I just typed. The trailer showcases highlights from the various cinematic trailers the MMO has produced in its long history. The War Within got a new trailer showcasing the World Soul and a release date of August 26th, 2024.

 

 

Compulsion Games is up, showcasing South of Midnight, its latest title.  The stopmotion-style animation is pretty cool, and the combat shown off in the gameplay looks pretty tight. Oh, and you can fly, apparently. Really digging the soundtrack as well.

A world premiere is next, showing a turn-based RPG with stunning visuals and incredible music. Expedition 33 is coming in 2025.

Up next is Starfield's expansion, with a first look at in-game footage of the upcoming content drop for Bethesda's space adventure. Starfield: Shattered Space, is coming 2024 (though no release date was announced). However, coming tonight is a new content drop with new gear, the creation kit and more.

A zombie co-op game appears next from Undead Labs, with State of Decay 3. The trailer shows off what looks like stylized gameplay, though no release date was revealed.

Dragon Age: The Veilguard is up next, with a first look at the eponymous Veilguard in action. Coming Fall 2024.

So, DOOM Guy has a shield now. And a morning star flail. Doom is going Medieval in Doom: The Dark Ages, coming in 2025.

Phil Spencer, the head of Xbox, announces that everyone will be getting Call of Duty access at the same time, a departure from how PlayStation would lock down exclusivity in the past. Black Ops 6 will launch October 25th.

Starting things off with Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, which is an interesting decision considering there is a whole showcase for this game right after the Xbox one. However, at least the game looks to be shaping up quite well, though CoD usually does.
