Gamescom 2022 Opening Night Live - All The Biggest Announcements

Dead Island 2 actually exists after its long, long wait. Coming next year, players can take the role of one of six playable characters in Los Angeles, a "modern paradise gone to hell." The over the top Zombie action RPG lets payers go nuts to take out zombies in any way they feel. Dead Island 2 is confirmed to be coming to PlayStation, PC and Xbox on February 3rd, 2023.

Also, apparently survivors still need to go to the store.

A new RPG set in the waning days of the Southern Tang Dynasty,  Where Winds Meet combines beautiful visuals, an open-world setting, and its Wuxia-style in a spectacular-looking trailer. 

Gotham Knights, the upcoming title set in the DC Universe, revealed a new release date with today's trailer. Coming now on October 21st.

Wyrdsong, a new upcoming RPG from a studio made from some serious RPG talent, was announced this morning. Set in a dark fantasy world that takes place in an alternate reality Middle Ages, the team at Something Wicked Games  released a trailer during Gamescom showing off the otherworldly, dark vibes. Almost like...something wicked will be coming in Wyrdsong.

A new sci-fi action adventure title what happens when humanity stares at space...and something stares back. The trailer for Scars Above shows off some gameplay footage, as well as conveying the difficulties of surviving on an alien world. Also, there is a giant triangle in the sky.

Telltale's upcoming game based on Amazon's sci-fi show (which is in turn based on a book series), The Expanse. The trailer today shows off some of the gameplay, as well as hear from the developers about building the narrative experience.

Lies of P - a souls-like where players take the role of Pinocchio in a dark, gritty version of Belle Epoque's world, dropped a new trailer. The upcoming title from Neowiz is slated for a 2023 release.

Homeworld 3 is coming in the first part of 2023 after being delayed, again, earlier this year. 

Atlas Fallen is coming in 2023 from Deck 13 and Focus Entertainment. Looks like a co-op looter title...kinda looks like Destiny meets Dauntless, but in the desert.

Subnautica Studio has teamed up with author Brandon Sanderson to create a new title, Moonbreaker. The upcoming title is a turn-based tactics game that takes on the life of a tabletop miniature experience. You can even paint the figurines. The new title releases into Early Access on September 29th.

A new Hogwarts Legacy trailer breaks down the unforgivable curses, as well as shows off a look at some new gameplay and story heading into its now delayed 2023 release.

Return to Monkey Island is launching on Switch and PC this September 19th, otherwise known as International Talk Like a Pirate Day. The upcoming pirate game from Devolver Digital will also be giving pre-order players a "totally useless" piece of horse armor to take up inventory space. Literally, useless. No gameplay use, adds nothing to the story. It's just...there.

Dying Light 2: Stay Human: Bloody Ties drops a brand new trailer, announcing a release date of the new story DLC. Coming on October 13th, the parkour-fueled zombie game will see players revisit The City for a new story with a new arena: The Carnage Hall.

Sonic Frontiers is coming out this November, hitting on November 8th on Steam, PlayStation, Xbox And Switch consoles.

Soulslike Lords of the Fallen is getting a sequel, though they are dropping the "2." Titled The Lords of the Fallen, the upcoming sequel is coming to PC, Xbox Series consoles and PlayStation 5.

Funcom's long-anticipated survival game set in the Dune universe was shown off in a cinematic trailer today during Gamescom's Opening Night Live. Titled Dune Awakening, the open world survival MMO is available to wishlist on Steam. 

A new open-world where players also help create the world around them. Everywhere aims to create a "new world" where players interact, play, watch, share, and more. Sounds like a "metaverse," where players can make their own experiences. Via the website:
