EVE Online is set to release their card game, EVE: The Second Genesis, at the upcoming Gen Con Indy. The card game, which was previously announced, will be based in the EVE Online Universe where you take the role of an "aspiring CEO".

CCP Becomes A Contributing Sponsor Of Gen Con - $10K Eve CCG Tournament To Be Held At Show

REYKJAVIK, ICELAND - JULY 31, 2006 - CCP is now an official Contributing Sponsor of the Gen Con Indy Show in Indianapolis,Indiana, August 10-13, 2006 where it will launch its first Collectible Card Game called EVE: The Second Genesis™, announced earlier this month.

"EVE: The Second Genesis CCG, based on the background setting of EVE-Online®, challenges the players to survive in the cruel corporate world of the future. Players take the role of an aspiring corporate CEO with a single starbase under their control," says Ingolfur Aevarsson, Marketing Director of EVE: The Second Genesis. "Their goal is to maintain a steady income flow to expand their empire with starfleets, cunning tactics, and dirty tricks in order to gain power and bring their rivals to their knees."

CCP will have a 128-person tournament at Gen Con in Hall G of the Indianapolis Convention Center on Saturday, August 12th with cash prizes totaling $10,000. The tournament will be open to everyone and since EVE: The Second Genesis will be launched at the show, those competing will have as equal a chance of winning as possible.

The tournament will be a Swiss double elimination tournament with cash prizes for the top 32 players, with additional prizes for random players between rounds. A double elimination tournament is a competition where participants are eliminated from the tournament upon having lost two matches. All players will receive a starter deck free of charge when they come to the EVE booth for a demonstration. They can then reconstruct and enhance their decks by purchasing booster packs at the show floor. Further tournament details will be disclosed at the beginning of the tournament.
