CCP's upcoming EVE Vegas event looks to be shaping up to be its most epic yet. In a new blog post on the CCP webpage, the EVE Online developer detailed plans for the upcoming Vegas event as well as their 2020 plans.
The EVE Invasion World Tour has been going on all year, and EVE Vegas 2019 is one of the major events to close out the year. Taking place at the Flamingo Las Vegas Hotel & Casino, every year capsuleers descend upon the famous Las Vegas Strip to talk internet spaceships and plot their next moves against rival alliances.
One of the marquee events each year is the Saturday Night Party. Up in the air was whether or not EVE Online's band, Permaband, would make an appearance, especially after CCP Guard's departure from CCP earlier this year. That has been answered as Permaband - including Guard - will be headlining the party of OMNIA Nightclub during EVE Vegas 2019.
Looking ahead to 2020, CCP Games will be applying everything they learned about the EVE Invasion World Tour and applying it to their traditional Fanfest Event in Reykjavik. Taking place at the Harpa on April 2-4, it'll be interesting to see how the even changes based on the feedback and lessons from the World Tour.
CCP is also exploring another event in Russia in 2020, along with continuing to support events throughout North America and Australia. However, the biggest change will be CCP no longer hosting EVE Vegas in 2020. Instead the developer is moving its marquee North American event some 330 miles southwest to sunny San Diego. While no date or venue has been announced for the new city, it's going to be a big change. However, CCP explained the rationale behind this move.
Away from Vegas, the EVE Invasion World Tour has taught us that shaking things up and trying new things is always fun, so in 2021 we’ll be looking for another city to host our major North American event. From there, we’ll keep switching things up as we go forward!
