Over the weekend, GStar was held in Korea, showcasing some of the games being worked on by Korean and other Asian developers. Among them was Elyon: Ascent: Infinite Realm. During GStar over the weekend, we got a glimpse of some dungeon gameplay, showcasing more of the upcoming MMORPG.
As beta testing for Elyon, formerly known just as Ascent: Infinite Realm, has been ongoing in Korea, fans in the west have been eager for info. One YouTuber, Hakurai, has posted a long video breaking down some of the mechanics and features in Elyon during the beta.
Bluehole teased some big news for the long-in-development Ascent: Infinite Realm, and earlier today it finally happened. A:IR is being renamed Elyon: Ascent Infinite Realm.
It seems the Ascent: Infinite Realm is nearing its closed beta phase in Korea as Kakao Games will so start accepting applications for testing opportunities. Applications are being accepted from May 29th to June 19th with the caveat that applicants need to be 18+ years old.
The Ascent: Infinite Realm forum has been updated with a new post to preview two of the game's factions: Vulpin, Ontari and the Solumn Empire to which both belonged in eras past. Readers will learn a bit of lore behind each, what their relative strengths are and where they are located within the game world.
From the "how'd we miss this" files, it appears that the Ascent: Infinite Realm team posted a brief preview of a number of classes in mid-February. Viewers can get a look at concept art and read a bit about each of the five classes: Warlord, Assassin, Elementalist, Mystic and Gunslinger.
The Ascent: Infinite Realm forum has a brief post that previews the giant airship that has been seen in screens and videos. Called the "Inventus", the ship "serves as a city in the sky" that began its journey as an evacuation ship.
Ascent: Infinite Realm players will be able to own a piece of the game world and will be able to turn it into their own resource-rich environment. Adventuring through the game will yield seeds that can be taken home and cultivated for foodstuffs. Players would also be able to find resources on other home plots including a fishing pond, mine, trees, crop farming or animal farming to name a few. Players can specialize in a few resources or use all plots for "a little bit of everything".
The Ascent: Infinite Realm Facebook page has been updated with a trio of screenshots that show some of the scenes players will be presented with when taking off on "the first official Expedition Crew mission". Players will ride an airship to a location called Sunsetville. Airborne enemies can be shot down with on board machine guns. On landing on a small island at a later point, players will face off against a final boss that can only be defeated in combat without air support.
The Ascent: Infinite Realm forum has been updated with collated information about the classes coming at launch. While several have been previewed in other concept art postings, they are all now collected together in a pair of new posts on the official forums. Each features a look at its signature look, armor type and artist commentary.
