UPDATE: CS Center Still Open, Newspaper Report Erroneous - Elder Scrolls Online -

UPDATE: According to Zenimax, the newspaper is erroneously reporting the number of layoffs has been exaggerated and that the layoffs of a small number of employees happened in August. The customer support center is still open. Source

“Following the successful console launch of The Elder Scrolls Online: Tamriel Unlimited in June, we have a thriving console and PC online community,” a Zenimax representative told us via email. “We adjusted customer support levels in mid-August by reducing staffing by approximately 50 people to reflect the game’s stability and the needs of our players. This is a normal practice.  We have been diligently working with the IDA, and the employees affected by this decision since the summer. We are disappointed by the inaccuracies in the report of the Connacht Tribune.”

A local Irish newspaper is reporting that a local Customer Support Center for Elder Scrolls Online has been closed resulting in the loss of 300 jobs. Zenimax has closed its Galway, Ireland division just before the holidays. The newspaper reports that it has reached out to Zenimax but has not yet received any further information.

Ironically news of the losses comes in a week that Galway reinforced its positioning as a global hub in its other key employment sector – medical technology – with the announcement of two new high-tech manufacturing facilities in the city.
