Morrowind is the Start of a New Content Cadence

Morrowind is the Start of a New Content Cadence -

Matt Firor has posted his first Elder Scrolls Online newsletter of 2017 following yesterday's big announcement about the Morrowind chapter set to hit the game in June. The letter is extraordinary as it outlines what Firor calls "a new content cadence" with regular content releases.

In terms of how content will be released in any given year:

  • in Q1, a new DLC will be released
  • a new Chapter similar to the scope of Morrowind, will be released in Q2. Chapters are designed to be about 30-hours in length
  • a dungeon-based DLC in 3rd quarter
  • a new DLC in Q4

Because Elder Scrolls Online is not level-gated, it gives us the chance to do something different from any other online game of this type. Chapters are for more than just long-time or hardcore players of the game – Chapters are designed for ALL players of the game. As I've said many times before, we have a huge variety of players in Elder Scrolls Online. Many play every day and have invested thousands of hours in the game. Some play the game once a month, some play casually with their friends and families when they have time. And some just want to play through the storylines of the game as they would any other Elder Scrolls title and then wait for the next one. With our new Chapter content, all of these will be supported.

The newsletter goes on into some further detail on the following subjects:

  • new small-group PvP battlegrounds & Cyrodiil
  • Homestead
  • post-Morrowind plans
