News on Transmog and Battleground Fixes

At E3, WCCFTech spoke to Game Director Matt Firor and came away with a few pieces of info worth mentioning for fans of Elder Scrolls Online. Morrowind’s now been out for a few weeks if you include the early access period, and we’re rightly looking ahead to what comes next and when we can expect fixes to the issues introduced by the game’s first Chapter.

The big news, though folks who pay close attention will already know this, is that transmogrification of items is indeed being worked on for ESO. Matt explains that it’s not a very easy thing to add, but that they’re working hard on it anyway. What this means is that soon™ you’ll be able to take an item whose looks you like, and add those looks to an item whose stats you prefer. This is different than the current “motif” system crafters use to make items look the way they want, in so much that it allows a user total control over their stats and their looks.

I love this, especially if they do work in the motif system. I’d kill to be able to keep exactly the look of the items and armor I love without having to resort to costumes. Even then, you can’t do that for your weapons, so if ZOS can somehow make it that you’re able to use your crafting motifs on existing items, that to me would be the best possible outcome.

WCCFTech also asked whether a fix for queuing as a group was coming soon for Battlegrounds, and similarly if a fix for the lack of rewards received when a player leaves a match is also coming. The short answer? Yep, to both. In fact, June 19th’s small patch seems to have done some of this.

This is good news. I can recall more than a few matches in Battlegrounds where I didn’t receive rewards, and never really knew why. The sooner they get this fixed, the less people will avoid competing in what’s a really great way to level and earn gear.

Also of note from the interview, Kai Powell was able to get information on how the HDR support is coming along for Xbox One X, as well as the fact that it’s coming to PC eventually too. It was a pretty informative interview, so be sure to check it out.

How goes your adventure in Vvardenfell? Now that we’re a few weeks in, have you moved on from the island, or are you still covering every nook and cranny like me? I’m stoked to see the new dungeons in August, but I’m loathe to admit I have to wait until Q4 before I see Sotha Sil’s Clockwork City… stop sleeping and eating, Zenimax, and get us those updates faster. /crackswhip
