Handyman Studios have announced that 2D survival-adventure title, Edge of Space, will be blasting off into full retail release on September 17th after nearly two years in early access. Developers have responded to player feedback that brought improved lighting and visuals, new story writing, gear, items and more.
When we last checked in on Edge of Space, the game had received much new content. Fast forward to several months later at PAX East, and things are still improving. The team’s focus in recent updates is to polish the game, continue to improve it visually, and create a better tutorial and beginning game experience for players. As someone who began in the alpha, zooming in on the characters or terrain, for instance, is much better.
When we previously stepped into the world of Edge of Space, the game was playable, but in a definite early state. We loved what we saw at PAX East this year enough to name the game Best Indie RPG. Fast forward to this year’s PAX Prime, and the large improvement in graphics was the first sign that things in the game have come a long way since those early builds. Still in Early Access, the team at Handyman Studios has been updating and adding to the game at a consistent clip.
Retro indie sandbox/survival game Edge of Space has big plans for sending players into outer space and having them terraform worlds, craft armor and fight off laser space sharks. Compelling as that is, it's just the tip of the interstellar iceberg.

Edge of Space is an open world, 2D, exploration-based survival sandbox game in which you play a representative of ArkCo, a corporation sending out explorers to very dangerous parts of space.
