  • BlizzCon: The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly

Blizzcon has come and gone now for 2018 and while we are usually celebrating the awesomeness that is Blizzard, this year turned out a bit different. While some of the announcements still came as a huge surprise and welcome cheers of support by fans, Blizzard fell prey to some of the sad new rhetoric that surround our culture, as well as their own clandestine development messaging. We’ll call it the Immortal Blizzcon that no one will forget. If you have ever been to a show, you will know why.

  • BlizzCon 2018 - Tempering Fan Expectations

BlizzCon 2018 will be kicking off in about 24-hours. The annual convention is usually chock-full of exciting news about Blizzard’s stable of games. This year, however, fans are confused. For weeks starting in September, Blizzard has assertively sold BlizzCon to its fans and primed the hype train. Over the past couple of weeks, however, developers have started tempering players’ expectations leaving many to wonder, “Just what is there to be excited about during BlizzCon 2018?”

  • Diablo 3 Switch Review - It's a Solid Console Offering

Its latest feat, however, may possibly be one of its greatest; at least from this writer's perspective. So let's jump in and see just how well the game holds up on the Nintendo Switch. As always grab that coffee, kick back and enjoy our review of Diablo 3 The Eternal Collection for Nintendo Switch.

  • We Think Blizz Wanted to Announce World of Diablo. Here's Why

During last month’s Blizzcon, we have been pondering the World of Warcraft: Battle for Azeroth expansion announcement. Several new features were revealed, however, none of the new systems came with much attendant detail. From our view, the rushed feel of the Battle for Azeroth announcement suggests that this was not exactly what Blizzard wanted to reveal during Blizzcon.

  • The Best of BlizzCon 2017

BlizzCon 2017 was probably my favorite BlizzCon in years. So much great content was revealed, while two of the IPs were a little less than enthusiastically represented (I’ve a hunch that next year will be big for the Devil). But far and away, it was a big year for World of Warcraft, Overwatch, Hearthstone, and Heroes of the Storm. Read on for our picks for the Best of BlizzCon 2017.

  • Rise of the Necromancer is Well Worth the Price of Admission

I'm going to get this out there right off the bat: I wish that Blizzard would start developing Diablo 4 or at least give us a new expansion. I love the series but it's time to move past Diablo 3. That said, Rise of the Necromancer is a lot of fun and it's made playing D3 fun again. To say that I haven't gotten my money's worth would be untrue and I've totally found that I've extracted $15 worth of fun already.

Blizzard had a fantastic demo at PAX East for media on the Necromancer. Hidden away from the masses it was great to sneak in and sit down to try out the new class. I missed the demos at Blizzcon so was very excited to chat with the team and get a full view of the female Necromancer and some of the melee skills that the class will come with.

  • The Best Things to Use Your BattleNet Balance For

Blizzard announced yesterday that World of Warcraft tokens can be purchased in game and then used to fill up a virtual currency wallet called BattleNet Balance. This balance can then used to trade for WoW services or to purchase items across all of Blizzard's games. As a result, virtual currency items in the Shop have gotten a bit more interesting. In today's column, we'll take a look at some of the more fun things you can buy with your BattleNet Balance in each of Blizzard's other titles!

I was talking to @BillMurphy earlier today about what he’s been playing lately and we got started talking about action RPGs and how great they are for busy parents, extrapolating into how fantastic they are for anyone with limited time to play. MMOs, while magnificent and are our passion, tend to demand more time to feel as if progress has been made, hence the easy joy that comes out of ARPGs.

Every year that Blizzard has conducted a Blizzcon, millions of fans have deeply sighed at the ceiling in contemplation of what they might hear about their favorite titles. • I’m Glad I Waited for the Expansion

Having a ton of games to play is certainly a boon, but it usually means that I’m late to the party on the newest gaming hotness (unless that hotness is an Elder Scrolls game). In the case of Diablo 3, I’m actually kind of glad that I missed the boat on launch and waited until the Reaper of Souls release, because I skipped past the whole RMT Auction House and loot kerfuffle and am now enjoying a super polished and fun Blizzard game.

  • Patch 2.0.1 - A Whole New Way to Play

Last week, Blizzard released the 2.0.1 patch for Diablo III. While it has been in development for a long while, the team behind the update has been relatively quiet leading up to its release. It might be a good guess that the developers of this patch wanted to virtually 'see' players' faces on seeing all that had changed.

During BlizzCon 2016, it was revealed that the Necromancer hero class would be making his triumphant return to Diablo 3 in a forthcoming Character Pack (not an expansion) in 2017. Lucky for us, the male Necro was playable at the show, and we played through the 15 minute or so demo and took some of the class’ old skill made anew for a spin.

  • v2.4 Review - Fun But Flawed

After spending several hours exploring the new update, the question becomes what 2.4 brings to the average Diablo 3 player: A lot of lag for console players from what I understand. I play on PC so I have not experienced this, but there have been wide reports by players on all available consoles that this is a huge problem. Beyond that, there are a lot of things that are pretty fun, but outrageously frustrating at times as well.

  • Latest Update is a Game-Changer (in a Good Way!)

Fast forward to today, and we have the recent deployment of the v2.3.0 patch that is the largest to date and one that is packed with a new location, a new season tracker and Kanai’s Cube, a modernized version of Diablo 2’s Horadric Cube. What it all comes down to is that this is the meatiest, game experience patches in D3’s history, short of the RoS expansion itself.

  • The Ultimate Evil Edition Is the Ultimate Edition

It feels weird to say it, but I think the most recent release of Diablo 3, The Ultimate Evil Edition, to PS4 and Xbox One just might be the best version of the game out there. Not only does it come with all of the content and improvements the PC version has already seen, but there are a load of cool console-only features to boot. Oh, and what’s best? You don’t have to experience any of it online.

  • Hands-On with the PS4 Version

Although I really enjoy Diablo 3, I must admit that I have a particular bias towards the PC version, simply because of my preference for playing action RPGs with a mouse and keyboard. I play it almost exclusively multiplayer, however, and have thought at times that the experience could benefit from some couch co-op once in a while.
