Team Reveals Priority List for Fixes

The Destiny team has written a new blog post on the official site that lays out some of the main issues gleaned from slightly over two weeks of gameplay. The priority list of items is a long one that includes decreasing cave farming, voice communication, strikes and weapons balancing.

Not the Ghost with the Most

You are brought back from the dead in a post-apocalyptic wasteland. This could be the plot for any number of science fiction movies or novels but it’s the start to Bungie’s highly anticipated new intellectual property Destiny. Your Ghost, voiced by actor Peter Dinklage of Death at a Funeral and Underdog fame, prods you back to life and informs you that he needs your help.

Activities' Difficulty Reduced in New Patch

Bungie has posted the latest Destiny patch notes which, while brief, are of keen interest to players. Three of the game's activities have had 'majors' removed from the Heroic tier.

5 Reasons Not to Play Destiny

Last week I wrote a list with 5 reasons to play Destiny. I stand by that list and if any of those reasons really leap out to you, then you should definitely give the game a shot. However, no game is perfect and Destiny is definitely not for everyone.

Events Announced

Bungie has announced specifics about a pair of events, the first of which begins today. Two other events are revealed sans details. Check out the image below.

Review in Progress Part 2

After my initial reluctance to play through Old Russia for the fourth time I found myself genuinely enjoying Bungie’s new game Destiny. You can read my thoughts on my time on Earth and my frustrations with the social systems in last week’s review in progress. In this week’s I’ll talk about my impressions while traversing the Moon and Venus and knocking on the door of Mars.

Game On #54: Should You Buy Destiny?

Welcome to another episode of Game On with MMORPG.com! Liore is out this week, so Chris is joined by return guests Casey and Jacob to talk about their experiences in Bungie's new MMOFPS, Destiny. Together, they represent all three types of players, the newbie, the leveler, and the endgamer. What do they think? Give it a listen to find out!

Raids Begin Today, More Activities Coming Soon

Bungie has announced that players can begin taking part in raids as of today, Tuesday, September 16th. In addition, players can expect to see more activities and events arriving in game in the near future. Later this week, competitive multiplayer will arrive and, a bit later, Destiny's first timed event will kick off.

Does Destiny Live Up to the Hype?

One of the most common questions I’ve been asked by friends is whether or not Destiny lives up to its hype. While it may take weeks, months or even years to truly know the answer to this question, there is no denying that Destiny has had a big impact in the gaming world. When a title recoups its entire $500 million budget on day one, it’s hard not to notice. Does this mean that we’ll still be talking about Destiny a year from now? Good question.

5 Reasons to Play Destiny

With the release of Destiny on consoles last week, this may very well be the first time in history that a very “PC-esque” game has ever came directly to consoles exclusively first. It may not be a fully-fledged MMO, but it has many of the hallmarks of the genre and is definitely part of that conversation. What makes it so bizarre, is that the PC release is still several months at least away.

Review in Progress Part 1

Earlier this week Destiny officially released to tremendous commercial success. Lauded by Activision Blizzard as the biggest franchise launch yet in video game history, it achieved $500 million shipped on day one. These sales are to retailers and digital distributors not to the end users but it is pretty safe to bet at this point that Destiny is on a fast track to be Activision’s third billion dollar franchise joining Call of Duty and Skylanders.

$500M in Game Copies Shipped As of Day 1

According to a report at Eurogamer, Bungie and Activision-Blizzard are reporting that it has shipped over $500M Destiny copies. There is a semantic difference in that shipped copies are not copies sold to customers. The fact remains, however, that this is easily the most successful video game of all time in these terms.

What's Destiny's Destiny?

Launch day is here. You may even already be playing, or watching someone play, Bungie's new quasi-MMO shooter Destiny. Our own Bill Murphy was in all day yesterday, and has some launch-day thoughts on Bungie's big new IP. Read on.
