Destiny 2 Players will be Able to 'Transmog' Legendary Armors Starting with Shadowkeep

Bungie is overhauling the Eververse in Destiny 2 starting with the Shadowkeep expansion coming this fall. Essentially, players will be unlocking a "transmog" system that allows them to change the look of any Legendary sets in the game, a cosmetic option that is separate from the perks on gear. These "universal ornaments" can be applied to all Legendary sets coming this fall. "They override the look of your equipped gear while preserving the perks, mods, & stats of the original item.

Bright Dust will also be "evolving" into a play-to-earn reward. Players will be able to earn Bright Dust for "completing Vanguard, Crucible, and Gambit bounties". The goal is for players to earn Bright Dust from playing, not spending real money.

Also moving forward, Eververse items will no longer be able to be dismantled for Bright Dust. Starting in September, dismantling these items will yield Legendary Shards and Glimmer.

However, that means right now the absolute best thing you can do with all the Eververse items you don’t use regularly—armor, Sparrows, shaders, Ghost Shells, transmat effects—is dismantle them. Sitting on a pile of Midnight Talons or Metro Shift from your Year 1 stockpiles? Shard ’em for Dust.

That’s right! Everything must go—dismantle the extra stuff you have in your inventory, build up a huge amount of Bright Dust, and spend it on sweet stuff as it rolls through the Eververse store—because on September 17, everything changes.
