Recent Improvements - Dark and Light -

The makers of the recently controversial MMORPG, Dark and Light, have released a statement detailing the recent improvements that have been made to their prequel, "Settlers of Ganareth".



Settlers of Ganareth opened its doors a little over one month ago. Ganareth in-depth marks the beginning of us regularly communicating with you, twice per month, in order to inform you of the progress of those strange beings known as the developers...

SoG has benefited from weekly patches which have made it possible to correct the current bugs, and to continue to stabilize and balance the client, and to optimize the graphic resources in the game. The list of corrections made in each patch is available at this address:

Below you will find recent improvements for Settlers of Ganareth made by the developers:

  • The bug ALI (Already Logged In) was corrected: At each extinction of a CELL, an analysis is made and the disconnection is done in its entirety. Moreover management of the fault tolerance was improved and the players are no longer disconnected when a CELL shuts down. However the developers continue to work on this bug so that the CELL doesn’t close any more!
  • The "permabug" (Dnlg.exe Error while launching a character) is currently being solved.
  • Resolution of the “Overloaded” bug: the server is UP but players cannot log in. This bug, completely independent of the server load, has been isolated today and is currently being solved.
  • The stability of the server is always progressing and it is now possible to start running large scale events which you will find in the Ganareth Gazette.

The development of Dark and Light hasn’t stopped during this period. Below is a list containing some of the more important progress made during January by the Dark and Light development team:

  • Optimization of the scripting tool in order to increase the speed of production and adding content to the world of Ganareth.
  • Overhaul of the management of public transports which enabled us to increase productivity and to install a greater diversity of public transports.
  • Deployment of an important team for holding regular internal tests.
  • Work on what we call the "fault tolerance" of the server which makes it possible to anticipate a maximum of errors and to continue to optimize the stability of the server.
  • Optimization of the data processing of the engine shaders: and preprocessing of the graphic resources for a more optimal display. This in particular enables us to increase the framerate by a significant degree while improving visual quality (colorimetry, smoothness of the details, density of the forests, and vegetation proximity).

The Dark and Light Beta will reopen in a few weeks to start testing the new integrated modules.
