The Dark & Light team has a cool update called "The Archos Herald" that will be a regular series to update the community about what is happening in the development pipeline as well as what is happening in the community, what contests may be available and much more.

In the first issue, the letter speaks to the somewhat rough start but that over the course of the week, the team has been actively working to increase the number of official servers and about patches to solve some of the most pressing issues. Servers are being released at the rate of 18 per day!

Over time, there are several major features and issues being dealt with via the patch system. These include:

  • server health improvements
  • reducing load times
  • fixes to bugged quests and quest rewards
  • fixes to "a number of missing / inaccurate text strings"
  • more tools for dedicated server hosts
  • community-driven features including things like "offline raiding" and how to make it work. The team is dedicated to working with the community on realistic ideas and implementations

The first-ever community event is a structure building contents. Players can submit a screenshot of their favorite structures. These can come from official, private, multiplayer or single player games. The contest is called "Fit for a King" and is underway. Submissions need to be sent in before midnight PST (3 am EST) on August 10th. Winners will receive Amazon gift cards.

The team has also started a series of helpful guides to get new players started on the most important tasks. The first issues is about Harvesting.

You can read the full newsletter on the Dark & Light Steam page.
