Siege Perilous Overview Prepares for Late March Deployment

The Crowfall team is getting ready to unleash Siege Perilous into pre-alpha testing and to help introduce players and fans to the new system, a new blog post has been published on the official site. Siege Perilous is the name of the next round of testing that will grow into the castle siege system over time.

Players will choose either Order or Chaos faction to defend against other teams headed in to try to wrest control. Matches will begin in a similar fashion to the Hunger Dome but will vary with the arrival of siege catapults, essentially single player mounts that shoot Flaming Balls of Death at the enemy.

Death and Respawn

Each faction has a graveyard. Dying will cause you to respawn at this graveyard with a penalty timer that increases as the siege progresses. You drop items on death, so dead players will need to go back to re-provision before jumping back into the fray.

If a member of Order dies, then 10 seconds are added to the overall match timer. If a member of Chaos dies, then 10 seconds are removed from the overall match timer.

Our goal is to add some variety to the matches, so that (unlike Hunger Dome) our testers can employ a wide variety of strategies to successfully siege or defend the keep.

The goal is, of course, to destroy walls, towers and other structures that lay in the way of conquering the enemy's stronghold.

The team is hoping to deploy Siege Perilous sometime later this month.
