Discipline System As a Key Element of Progression

The first information about the Discipline System in Crowfall has been released by Thomas "Blixtev" Blair. He introduces Disciplines as a "key element in character progression and differentiation in Crowfall". This is something that has been discussed since the earliest KickStarter days and the elements are all in place to reveal even more information about it than has been up to now.

Disciplines are the Crowfall version of "multi-classing" and that will allow players to customize to a very fine degree. Hearkening back to the Shadowbane days, Blair says there are key similarities, but subtle (and important) differences.

Disciplines are physical inventory items that can be crafted in Weapon, Major and Minor types, each with unique components required and that can come in different quality types. These items are carried in inventory and can unlock passives or active powers with the caveat that they can only be used once. If, for instance, you have a higher quality runestone or one of a different type you'd prefer, replacing the existing one will destroy it.

What do I do with all these powers?!

You may have noticed in recent playtests that powers can be moved from the Power UI to the Active Power bar. We’ve also added three slots for passive powers, as well as enabled the retaliate power to be swapped. It is our intention that players be able to obtain many more active, passive, and retaliate powers than they can actively loadout into their Power tray.

Thanks for the tip, Leiloni!
