Crowfall's J. Todd Coleman has penned a new article on the site to discuss a recent change to the armor system. In the old system, armor progressed vertically, each tier giving bonuses to all damage types and scaling upward as player's leveled. The new system, however, all archetypes can wear all armor (cloth, leather, chain, plate), though with pros and cons to damage modifiers.
Now, the choice between “leather” and “plate” was no longer simple; situationally, leather could be more beneficial than plate. Once we add other advantages and disadvantages to these types (like % chance of the armor affecting your stealth abilities) what used to be an obvious choice now becomes a rather key decision.
