Newsletter Entices Players with 2-Handed Swords -

The latest Conan Exiles newsletter has been published to provide players and fans with a bird's eye view of what the team has been working on for the past week. In a brief note before each section's report, the letter informs the community that the roadmap and development milestones for the upcoming launch have been finalized and "that we're now barreling towards the endgame". A number of big ticket items are targeting launch including the combat revamp, more items and content too.

The "gold build" is being finalized. This is the latest most stable version of the game that will be used to create the physical disks that players can buy. The build will be completed and sent in about 6-8 weeks ahead of launch so that disks can make it to retail outlets in time. As a result, fewer and smaller hotfixes and patches will be applied to the online-only PC version. XBox players won't see an update until "March at the earliest".

Here's what teams have been busy working on:

  • 2-handed swords that can be crafted from Stone, Iron, STeel, Hardened Steel and Starmetal. These are, as expected, heavy and slow to swing, but can deal great damage.
  • Sprinting while holding a weapon has made a return
  • Combat overhaul playtests are an ongoing thing
  • the new Perk System is in the works with improvements and modifications that can be added to a character based on how Attributes have been leveled
  • dying and respawning is being "shown some love"
  • content rebalancing is continuing
  • new post-launch content is in the works

You can check out all of the details on the Conan Exiles site.
