When Games Inspire - An Age of Dragons

Dragon Age is a series of games which prides itself on telling stories which connect with people on a personal level. Because of this and also because it has existed for about seven years at this point there is an ample amount of high quality fan creations devoted to Dragon Age and I am sure I’ll revisit this fandom a few times. Also, though I do have a few things from DA2 most of what I have today is from the most recent game, Dragon Age: Inquisition.

First up is Alex Webb who is better known as OrbitalWings around the web. Aside from his Deviant Art page you can also find him on Tumblr. Both pieces I picked to include today are of Briala and Celene. One is of them at the Winter Palace after events there, in playthroughs where they were reunited anyway. The other is particularly interesting to me because it sort of has an “at camp”feel to it and depicts events from The Masked Empire novel.

Next is Virak, who brings a bit of an anime feel to her Dragon Age fan art. I really like the Inquisition compilation of all the companions, plus the Inquisitor, but it makes me wish there was an actual Anime for Inquisition… perhaps filling in the time between the end of the main game and where Trespasser picks up? I’ve also included some black and white images she’s done of Alistair, Aveline, and male and female Hawkes from Origins and DA2 respectively. There are a bunch of others on Virak’s Deviant Art page and you also can find more of her stuff on Tumblr and Facebook.

Dragon Age Inquisition used tarot card inspired cards to represent each character on the party selection screens, and Paperwick has taken this inspiration and gone to the next level with some awesome fan art. Really you need to just go scroll through her Deviant Art gallery because there are a ton of really awesome cards. Not to mention all her other fantastic art as well. You can also find her on Twitter, Tumblr, and Facebook.

Moving on to Cosplay, I’d like to introduce you to Enayla. I’ve previously admired her incredible Guild Wars 2 cosplay, but her most recent cosplay of Cullen absolutely knocked me off my feet. She constructed the entire costume herself and it looks absolutely incredible. If Cullen were female I’m certain this is what he’d look like. You can also find Enayla on Facebook, Twitter, and Tumblr.

I’m ending this week with Aicosu, if you haven’t seen them before you are in for a real treat. They are Sheila and Sylar and they have been cosplaying together since 2009 and they have over 100 different cosplays. Seriously you should go look at their website because every single one of their cosplays is amazing. With a very few exceptions Sheila makes all of their cosplays. You can also find them on Tumblr.

Robin loves RPGs, MMOs, JRPGs, Action, and Adventure games... also puzzle games... and platformers... and exploration games... there are very few games she isn't interested in. When it comes to MMOs she focuses on WoW and GW2 but will pick-up other games as they catch her fancy. She's a habitual returner to FFXIV because that game is an all-around great MMO.
