It’s a pretty weird and unsettling time in this world of ours right now. With many of us hunkering down at home, things can get downright boring at times. Fortunately, if you’re someone who enjoys videogames, you likely have a backlog of games to play through or even some new titles to play in the coming days and weeks.
These are some of the titles I’m playing this month.

The Last of Us Part II
I’ve owned The Last of Us Remastered for some time now, but due to the fact I am absolutely terrible at shooters with a controller, I never got as far into it as I’d have liked. I recently tried to work my way through the game using an emulator, but I gave up due to all of the glitches, performance issues and just general instability. I decided to watch a “movie” version of the game on YouTube. Not a “Let’s Play” per se, but a video that strung all the story bits and cutscenes together along with some of the more significant gameplay scenarios. It actually worked really well for The Last of Us, which isn’t a huge surprise to me since Naughty Dog games tend to have movielike cinematic quality to them.
The reason I went through all of this is due to the fact that Naughty Dog implemented myriad accessibility options with TLOU2, lock on aim included among them. Using these options I figured I’d be able to enjoy playing the game and so far I’ve been correct. Is it as easy to play as it would be with a mouse and keyboard? No, but it handles smoothly enough with the lock on aim that I don’t feel like a complete idiot in combat.
Fallout 76
FO76 is in a sort of maintenance mode for me right now due to the fact I’ve completed all of the existing content. However, Update 20 launched this week and introduced the game’s first Season, with a whole host of rewards to grind towards. I don’t know how dedicated I’ll be to keeping up with this grind, but I’ll definitely give it a shot. The rewards are mostly OK, but nothing earth shattering for me.
X-Wing Alliance & Ace Combat 7
I upgraded my joystick situation in preparation for Star Wars Squadrons in October and I’ve gone back to some older games to put the new hardware through its paces. Both games are a huge pain in the rear to get fully working with a joystick (or a modern joystick in XWA’s case), but once I’ve finished TLOU2 I’ll finish setting these up and play some more.
I’ve been meaning to play XWA again for some time now and the graphics mods for the game are incredible, so I’m looking forward to the replay. I did already play a good deal of Ace Combat 7 on the PS4, but I decided to double dip on PC a while ago and I’m hoping to dive back in as the series is one of my favorites.
Griftlands
Griftlands continues to get love in these columns and remains a staple in my monthly rotation of games. I don’t play it daily or super actively, but Klei is constantly updating the game and there’s just so much there already that there’s a ton of replay value even in the game’s unfinished state.
Ghosts of Tsushima
This one isn’t out until July 17, but I’ve been following its development for some time and it could end up being the Assassin’s Creed in Japan that I’ve always wanted. We’ll see how things shake out come review time. Hopefully there aren’t a ton of free aiming elements involved. Just let me stick to melee and it should be a good time.
Persona 4 Golden
Persona 4 Golden being on this month’s list is more aspirational than anything else. I have a good deal of games on this list and not nearly enough time to play them. I did pick this up on Steam when it released for PC a couple of weeks ago and I’d like to finally dive into the Persona JRPG series with this highly regarded entry. This one is more of a matter of when than if.
