The Witcher 3 is Not Skyrim

If the comparisons indicate one thing, however, it’s that The Witcher is finally a franchise that the mainstream cares about. CD Projekt sat down with Reuters this week and revealed that the game sold 1.5 million pre-orders of The Witcher 3 compared to 1.5 million total annual sales of The Witcher 2. The company expects part three to sell “many times higher” than the previous games’ total sales. Sadly, CDPR also disclosed that they don’t plan to talk about their next game, Cyberpunk 2077, until 2017.

Two free DLCs are on the way, as well. The first is a new Witcher contract, “Missing Miners,” and the other is an alternative appearance for Yennefer. Small but I’m glad they’re dropping more story right out of the gate.

Turning time back more than a decade, the original project lead for the series revealed that the Witcher was almost a Diablo clone. In “The Witcher History #1” we see a far different game from what we actually got, one where Geralt isn’t even the main character! It’s well worth a watch.

Lords of the Fallen is getting a Game of the Year edition! This re-pack will include all of the DLC, including the larger Ancient Labyrinth pack, as well as the extra weapons and armors. It’s a great game and manages to feel original while taking its cues from Dark Souls. That said, we really need to stop calling these things GOTYs when they’re clearly not.

The third chapter of the The Incredible Adventures of Van Helsing series is now live on Steam! This is what we’ve all been waiting for: Van finally realizes that all Dracula needed was love. See, mom? Kittens solve everything.

Seriously though, this is a game we should all check out. It has a big following which means there’s something good there. Video game book club, anyone?

Divinity: Original Sin is coming to consoles! I can’t tell you how happy this makes me. I was pulled away from the PC release by the cold clutches of real life. Now, with my 14-month old in tow, I can finally get back to one of the best games of last year.

Inon Zur has signed on to compose the music for upcoming cooperative RPG, Sword Coast Legends. If you don’t know his name, you probably still know his music. He’s an accomplished musician, composing tunes for Dragon Age: Origins, Baldurs Gate 2, Icewind Dale 2, Fallout 3, and EverQuest.

Finally, for those of you who game on the go, dark fantasy RPG, Blood Brothers 2, has released an update allowing players to form guilds and adding special events within the game, such as daily bonus stages and themed pacts.
