The sheer amount of RPGs coming out in 2016, is staggering. Unlike with our MMOs of 2016 list, we won’t strive to list them all. Instead, we’re curating our Top 25 most anticipated RPGs of 2016. Here’s hoping they all launch this year!
Battlechasers (2016)
Battlechasers is an upcoming RPG by Airship Syndicate based on the comic book series of the same name that folded after its nine-issue release in the late 90s/early 2000s. The game's release will also launch a new comic incarnation. Characters from the comics, like Garrison, Gully, Calibretto, and more will feature and be player controlled.
Bombshell (2016) Win
Bombshell is a sci-fi RPG with an isometric view from 3DREALMS. From the creators of 2013's Rise of the Triad and legendary game maker 3D Realms comes Bombshell, an isometric action role-playing game for PC and consoles. Bomb disposal technician turned mercenary for hire, Shelly "Bombshell" Harrison must strong-arm her way across 4 planets in an Unreal Engine-powered galactic adventure to rescue the president from an apocalyptic alien threat. With out-of-this-world enemies, a never-before-seen arsenal of devastating weaponry and a host of genre-crossing mechanics, Bombshell is set to blow you away.

Bravely Second – 3DS
Bravely Second is the sequel to 3DS JRPG Bravely Default and is developed by Square Enix. The game takes place several years after the first adventure, and will also feature a fantasy plotline in the world of Luxendarc. No features or release outside of Japan have been confirmed.
Dark Souls 3 (Q1 2016) Win/PS4/XBO
Dark Souls 3 is an upcoming Action RPG for the PS4 and Xbox One and PC. Developed by acclaimed Japanese developer FromSoftware and directed by Hidetaka Miyazaki, DARK SOULS III is the latest chapter in the critically acclaimed DARK SOULS series with its trademark sword and sorcery combat and rewarding action RPG gameplay. Players will travel across a wide variety of locations in an interconnected world of unrelenting challenge and deep RPG gameplay as they search for a way to survive the coming apocalypse.
Darkest Dungeon (2016) Win/Mac/Lin/PS4/PSV
Darkest Dungeon is an independent roguelike RPG by Red Hook Studios intended to be a challenging adventure for advanced and hardcore players. The fantasy RPG was funded through a successful Kickstarter campaign. You’ll assemble a party of four on a dungeon crawling adventure, but you’ll be responsible not only for their physical health, but their emotional well-being and overall health as well. There will be choices and tradeoffs at all points along the way. Visiting the brothel might restore some energy but it could also give your party members STDs to deal with. Horrors of war might give someone PTSD. It’s up to you to keep your party together in all senses of the word while facing traditional RPG challenges.
