The List: The Most Anticipated MMOs of 2019

Another year, another list of the games we hope don’t suck in 2019. MMOs have been waiting what seems forever to get something new, and this year there is no shortage of upcoming games to look forward to. The question is - will any of them actually release in 2019, or will it be another year of waiting for the next big thing?

The following list is a collection of games that we expect to enter Early Access or Full Release in 2019. If you don’t see your most-wanted on the list, it just means that we’ve been led to believe that it won’t be coming until 2020 (Ashes of Creation, Pantheon, Star Citizen, Ship of Heroes,City of Titans and more are all expected to land later than 2019).

That doesn’t mean that all of these will launch this year either, as we all well know that shipping dates for MMORPGs are nebulous. Here we go! In no particular order...

Camelot Unchained

This one feels like we’ve been waiting forever, but good things may come to those who wait, as the beta is well underway for Camelot Unchained, and the successor to Dark Age of Camelot is drawing nearer and nearer to a fabled launch candidate. Will 2019 be the year players finally get a taste of what City State Entertainment has been working on?

Crowfall

Another one that’s been a long time coming, but one that’s been very openly sharing its progress as there’s no NDA, Crowfall’s unique blend of sandbox, meticulous crafting, and massive scale siege warfare is very nearly “complete” as it recently entered its first stage of actual campaign testing. This one’s going to be something special, but will it be too complex for the average gamer? Time will tell.

Lost Ark

Recently released in Korea, Smilegate’s Lost Ark aims to be the Diablo of MMORPGs, and judging by how hungrily you’ve all been reading and watching everything from the game, it could be onto something. Will it launch in the west in 2019? Chances are yes, but not until the end of the year, we’d wager.
