After aimlessly wandering the skyways for far too long, pirates were anxious and excited for the long-awaited continuation of the Pirate101 storyline. Luckily, the recent test realm allows players to resume their adventure and explore much more.
The Return to Valencia
Kane and the Armada have been nothing but trouble since the story began, but they have always been shrouded in mystery. With the first arc coming to an end, Book 15 delves into the Armada's many secrets and finally reveals some answers. However, not everything is crystal clear just yet. The final showdown between players and the mighty Kane is unplayable on test realm. Although I understand why KingsIsle might want to polish the fight/keep the ending a secret, I can't help but wonder how that decision will affect the live realm. Without the opportunity to fully test the Kane battle in test realm, it could be highly bugged by the time players attempt it for real. Fingers crossed that everything goes smoothly!

As I was trying my hand at the beginning of Valencia Part Two, I couldn't help but notice the extreme difficulty I was having. At first I thought maybe only I was having trouble. After all, I'm not nearly as well-versed in Pirate101 as I am in Wizard101. But after looking around, other people were experiencing the same thing. While the challenge was welcomed by some and rejected by others, either way it was noticeable. I personally think the tough confrontations will keep players on their toes and encourage them to rethink and alter their strategies. I know it sure forced me to.
At least one thing is certain - Valencia Part Two is truly stunning. Pirate101 loves to show off its graphics and this update didn't disappoint. It's beautiful. Despite that, I'm aware that a good chunk of people felt that this update didn't live up to the hype. To that I say ... keep faith! KingsIsle has stated that they plan to bring their MMOs back into focus, so I'm optimistic for the future.
Companions, Talents and Powers, and More
The storyline wasn't the only thing to get an add-on! Contessa Argento, a Royal Court darling turned resistance fighter, is a new companion who pirates can recruit after they complete the quest “Subterranean Subterfuge." In addition to the new swashbuckler, Birgus Latro, Dead Mike, Gaspard De Vole, Lucky Jack Russell, and Milo Graytail all have a new promotion quest.

New talents and powers, pets, mounts, and ships were also introduced with this most recent test realm. They will go well with the brand new max level of 70! In total, the Valencia Part Two update contains 2 new chapters and 5 additional levels.
Valencia Part Two is definitely what Pirate101 needed to help gain its momentum back. It may not be what some players expected, but I think most would agree that it's a step in the right direction. I can't wait to see what the next story will hold!
