The Game of Love

To my darling beloved,

I remember, back in the day, when we used to be together. You were the most beautiful game on the planet, and I couldn’t help but fall for your beauty.

Alas, we were parted by unnecessarily frustrating gameplay mechanics and the razing of parts of Eorzea by Bahamut… and I spent many a day pining after you.

I found myself adrift on the sea of time, trying and playing other games, but always thinking about whether you’d return, and if your return would rekindle our love.

I’m happy to note that your rebirth sparked a flame in my heart most dear, one that does not abate, and one I would not trade for the gil and glamour prisms in the world.

You’re fair still, though perhaps you’ve been battle-hardened through time. Your beauty still shines, and I know you to be a far lovelier and more enchanting partner now than I ever thought possible.

You are my love, reborn, and forever will you be my dearest heart.

Truly, madly, deeply,

Victor Stillwater

Dearest Victor,

I regret to inform you that, while my heart still has flames flickering in its depth for you, my time with you cannot be longer. I must ask you to forego sending me letters from now on.

My heart belongs to a singular entity, a bard or great renown who can craft the world around me with skill and wit.

Simply hearing his name, or learning about his grandiose desires to expand the horizons of Eorzea into Ishgard leaves my heart with such longing for him.

Yes, it’s true Victor.

Naoki Yoshida has my heart. He completes me even as we strive together to become greater than the sum of our individualities.

‘Tis admirable, your love for me. But I ask you to take on another quest instead, to find love by adventuring on behalf of the Lady Lisette de Valentione.

Seek her guidance, seek her blessing, and perhaps, beyond earning a new Barding for your chocobo or a new furniture item for your domicile, you will find true love.

Till then, I can only impart friendship to you, and as your truest friend, I can only wish you well, and leave you with this simple address: Go to Lisette once the third of February comes round. Seek her in Old Gridania, do her bidding, and maybe, just maybe… you will find the one you truly deserve.

In dearest confidence,

FInal Fantasy XIV.
