With Summerset being released and everyone enjoying the new content, we have news of more content coming down the road with the newest DLCs announced. Wolfhunter and Murkmire. As much as I like the design of Wolfhunter, I am more excited for Murkmire because of the story content. There hasn’t been an official date announced for these two packs but I am sure we will hear about them more as time goes by, so let’s focus on what we have now: Summerset Isles.
Even though it’s been out for a while now, I am taking my time on the official release. In the Closed Beta I sort of blew through the content and really didn’t take time to explore and open the world of Summerset. I abhor going through the quests for Psijic line again, but it is what it is at this point. I know a lot of people have some issues with how long it takes to actually complete and level the skill line up. I agree they could have taken a different route with this and made it much simpler. It didn’t happen that way and we are just going to have to deal with it. Maybe the feedback will be enough for the next skill line they release down the road.
Overall, I feel like everyone is pretty satisfied with Summerset. Despite the Steam issues happening right now, it’s all going pretty swell in the realm of Elder Scrolls Online. I think it’s been pretty well documented that I have been content with how Elder Scrolls Online has treated me over the years. I have been subbed to the game since launch and even though I wish I got more out of my sub, I still find the crowns I get monthly kind of useless because I don’t spend much time in the Crown Store. Although, I did buy the flame puppy and it is the cutest thing ever, so if they release more things like that in the store, maybe my crowns will get some use. I spent most of my points buying loot boxes for curiosity sake.
We all know how most gamers feel about loot boxes and the RNG involved with them. I bought about twenty boxes and got a mount and a couple of pets. The amount I spent on all the boxes was more than what I got. That’s how it works though right? We hope the best and maybe we will get that exclusive mount or that limited time pet. Whatever it is, we want it and the only way we can get it is buying the damned loot boxes! I personally feel like many others that Elder Scrolls Online shouldn’t have loot boxes and ever since they arrived I despised them.
How do you all feel about loot boxes being in Elder Scrolls Online or MMORPGs in general?
We have seasons with these loot boxes, which will contain season specific loot just to entice us to buy them. Now, I don’t really buy crowns outside of what my sub gives me but I am really curious on how much people spend on loot boxes in the game. I’m guessing they probably make more money off in-game purchases than subs. I’m hoping it’s not but I should really just face the facts on that one.
What do you think they could have done differently? Do you feel like loot boxes should be handled differently in this game? I mean, again I feel like they shouldn’t be in the game and if you really want to buy more crowns, they really should offer high-quality costumes or even some really awesome mounts. Have you ever bought a loot box? If so, why? If you haven’t, why as well? I know a lot of people are torn on this subject but people will continue to buy them with the chance of getting something amazing, just like in real life. You take a risk in gambling, you can either gain a ton or lose more. I was always told, “The House always wins”. Does Zenimax win in this case? Do they have a situation where they lose? I’m not really sure they do.
Even though that was a longer rant than what I really wanted it to be, that is the only real complaint I have right now. Summerset is still giving me a ton of enjoyment and I still have a lot more to do, like I said I am taking my time with this go-around and I am really enthralled with all the storylines going on. It’s another reason I continue to sub to the game, the storylines. It makes you read and listen to what’s going on, not just spam the next button till they eventually shut their yaps. If you do that, I implore you to really take a listen to the storytelling going on, trust me you won’t regret slowing down and listening to the world around you.
I am once again excited to see what else Zenimax is bringing us with Wolfhunter and Murkmire. I hope they continue to bring us engaging stories with Murkmire. I wouldn’t mind them releasing one DLC focused on dungeons and/or battlegrounds and the other focused on storytelling and questing.
They really make everyone happy that way, well, not everyone will be happy but I feel like the majority will be. What do you hope to see in the future DLCs and Chapters? What would you like to see them go or do? I’m hoping down the road for a new class or even race, why not both?
Let's hope for a bright and fruitful future. They haven't let us down yet and let's hope they continue that trend.
