The Best Things about Orsinium

3.) The New Public Dungeons

Both Old Orsinium and Rkindaleft are absolutely fantastic dungeons that are completely open to anyone who walks into them. Not to be confused with instanced dungeons, Public Dungeons don’t need a group, but once inside a whole host of solo and group-oriented content and missions can be found. It’s clear to me that the ESO team has learned a lot from the game’s earlier dungeons and these are stylistically and architecturally unique from anything else the 1-50 game had. I can only hope that future content updates continue to bring us more varied locales to dive into.

2.) Controller Support

It may seem a silly thing to the folks who love their Mouse & Keyboards (as do I), but ESO plays fantastically on the PS4 and XB1. It’s very nice to see that Zenimax acknowledges this much and has instituted full controller support in Orsinium for the PC. If you want to feel the impact of hits with the vibration of your Xbox controller, you can. If you just prefer the more laid back styling of ESO with a controller, it’s yours. Now if they can one day add the voice proximity chat that’s used on consoles (and make it optional), I’ll be happy.

1.) The Maelstom Arena

It may seem odd to declare a solo challenge arena as one of an MMO’s strongest points, but I’m including Maelstom Arena for more than just its base functionality. Yes it’s cool to see how you stack up against other builds of your class, but I’m really happier to see a sort of Horde Mode style of gameplay. It’s one of those styles of PVE I’ve adored for ages, and if ZOS wants to have some real fun they’ll make a group version of Maelstrom Arena soon too. I’d love taking my friends (or strangers) in there to try new comps and builds. The only thing it’s really missing is a good series of progressive rewards to keep playing the Arena after you’ve beaten it once.  Not everyone cares to redo content just to rank higher, and it’d be nice to have some sort of rewards to work towards.

But what about you? Have you tried our Orsinium yet? Do you like, love, hate, or meh the content? Share your thoughts below! And yes, we all want the Dark Brotherhood. Malacath willing, that’ll come in early 2016.
