Taking a Look at Savage Alexander and Seal Rock PvP

Welcome back, folks, to another installment of Eorzea Reborn. Today’s write-up won’t be overly long, primarily because I’m itching to try out that new PvP zone that’s made its way into the game (and that means running through some of the other content to officially hit 60).

That said, Final Fantasy XIV: Heavensward is now on Patch 3.05, which not only introduced a more difficult version of the end-game Alexander raid. It also brought in a new PvP zone called Seal Rock.

Both are expected to be fun new activities for the adventurers out in Eorzea.  Let’s go through Patch 3.05 and see what changes have come.

Alexander Savage Mode

The first addition that comes with Patch 3.05 is a second round of adventuring within the mobile fortress Alexander, via the quest, “A Song of Steam and Steel.” You’ll need to have completed the quests "Enigma" and "The Ultimate Ballad” beforehand, however.

Alexander brings with it the some of the latest best-in-slot gear for players, along with Gordian Manifestos, which act as tokens to redeem for similar gear.

The raid resets every Tuesday, at 1:00 am, PDT. Rewards for the raid diminish somewhat if the party contains players replaying an area prior to the weekly reset. Speciflcally, the number of treasure coffers appearing upon completion will decrease depending on the number of repeat players.

Furthermore, the Alexander announcement adds, “players will be ineligible for rewards from treasure coffers as well as pages of the Gordian Manifesto when replaying an area prior to the weekly reset.”

Seal Rock Seize PVP

Despite not being super big on PVP, I do enjoy capture point PVP in some games. Seal Rock’s Seize mode PVP seems to scratch that itch, with players tasked with “retrieving data from Allagan tomeliths and defeating players from opposing teams.”

It’s a race to earn data, basically, with the team that first gets the required amount of data being called the winner. The remaining teams will be ranked according to their respective ratings.

Accordingly, it appears to be 20 minutes of intense action, thoughhow intense it’ll be may depend on the adoption of Seize PVP types in the future.

Tomestone changes

As a result of patch 3.05, changes have also been instituted regarding the types of rewards players get from Roulette play.

Some of the content will now provide tomestones of esoterics and law rather than tomestones of poetics, though it seems to be a fair mix of changes, all resulting in eventually getting new gear.

Here’s the skinny, however:

  • Daily Roulette: Expert will now provide 60 Allagan tomestones of law and 35 Allagan tomestones of esoterics.
  • Daily Roulette: High Level will now provide 100 Allagan tomestones of poetics and 120 Allagan tomestones of law.
  • Duty Roulette: Leveling will now provide 100 Allagan tomestones of law and 5 Allagan tomestones of esoterics.
  • Daily Roulette: Trials will now offer 60 Allagan tomestones of law and 10 Allagan tomestones of esoterics.
  • Daily Roulette: Frontline will now give out 50 Allagan tomestones of law and 20 Allagan tomestones of esoterics.

Anyway, that’s all I have time for this week. Let me know in the comments what plans you have for this week’s Final Fantasy gaming spree! Cheers, and good gaming to all!
