Marvel: Avengers Alliance 2 Launch Impressions

General - Columns

Late last year we spotlighted Marvel: Avengers Alliance 2, the sequel to Disney’s social/mobile game, Marvel: Avengers Alliance. The game was in limited release at the time, but we couldn’t wait to jump in and check it out. Fast forward a couple months later and the game is now available worldwide. How does it stack up? Read on to find out!Posted Apr 5, 2016 by Michael Bitton

Scratching That Itch with Tom Clancy’s The Division

The Division - Columns

I’ve been a bit apprehensive of The Division given all the delays, rumors, and Ubisoft’s not so hot track record. However, after having put some time into the open beta, I decided to roll the dice and take a chance.Posted Mar 16, 2016 by Michael Bitton

Madness Comes to Marvel Heroes in March

Marvel Heroes Omega - Columns

March is going to be an exciting month for all things Marvel, but particularly for Marvel Heroes. Gaz’s Ryan ‘Ryolnir’ Collins recently took to the forums to tease us with what players can expect in the next major game update coming in early March, and we’re excited even by what little we know so far. Let’s dig in!Posted Feb 24, 2016 by Michael Bitton

Firebrand Heats Things Up in Chapter X: Anarchy in Paradise

Star Wars: The Old Republic - Columns

BioWare recently released the first new chapter for KOTFE, Chapter X: Anarchy in Paradise, and my conclusion is that your mileage may vary. For me, Chapter X was an enjoyable experience, marred by some of the issues we’d seen in earlier chapters, but mainly that the quality of gameplay doesn’t live up to the quality of the story being told. Kicking Off 2016 With a Bang

Marvel Heroes Omega - Columns

Marvel Heroes recently underwent yet another rebrand and the corresponding game update was suitably massive. Now Marvel Heroes 2016, Gazillion has kicked off the New Year with a bang by introducing some long awaited additions, with even more to come. Posted Feb 10, 2016 by Michael Bitton

How Gazillion Can Have a Superheroic 2016

Marvel Heroes Omega - Columns

2015 was a bit of an off year for Marvel Heroes. The year was marked by layoffs, lagging release dates, and a real dearth of new content. Fortunately, it appears that Gazillion has regrouped for the new year, and the studio has sent some signals that should inspire hope in fans for a better year. That said, we have a couple of our own ideas for what would help meet those goals. Posted Jan 20, 2016 by Michael Bitton

Marvel Heroes Advance Pack 3: Awesome or Meh?

Marvel Heroes Omega - Columns

For me, 2016 is going to be a bittersweet year for new characters in Marvel Heroes. Truth be told, I’m a huge fan of most of the picks, but like anyone else, I’m a bit disappointed some of my most anticipated characters didn’t make the cut. There is hope, as the seventh character hasn’t been revealed (or decided on?) yet, but I’m curbing my expectations.Posted Jan 13, 2016 by Michael Bitton

Advance Pack 3: Who Will Make the Cut?

Marvel Heroes Omega - Columns

Aside from the community vote winner, Angela, we currently have no idea what the roster of upcoming heroes will look like for Marvel Heroes in 2016. Gazillion has been mum so far on whether or not we’ll even have a third Advance Pack. The one thing we do know is that we’ll be finding out all of this information soon, probably this month, so why not have some fun and speculate on what an Advance Pack 3 would look like? Marvel: Avengers Alliance 2: I Have an Obsession

General - Columns

Disney recently soft-launched the sequel to the Facebook/Mobile Marvel turn-based RPG, Marvel: Avengers Alliance in Australia, Sweden, and Denmark. I was also obsessed with the original game, but it was wildly Pay-to-Win, so I had to force myself to stop playing it. The sequel, Avengers Alliance 2, is only on mobile and sports a snazzy new 3D aesthetic, so curiosity lead me to figure out a way to play it and I can honestly say I’m already equally obsessed with the damn thing.Posted Dec 23, 2015 by Michael Bitton

Journey to Star Wars: The Force Awakens Primer

General - Columns

Like the gap between Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope, there’s a lot of time (30 years, to be exact) to cover between Return of the Jedi and The Force Awakens. Today, we’ll highlight the stuff worth reading, playing, and watching to get you up to speed before the film releases later this week. Posted Dec 14, 2015 by Michael Bitton

Star Wars: Galaxy of Heroes First Impressions

General - Columns

Recently, I decided to try out EA’s Star Wars: Galaxy of Heroes, a new Star Wars mobile game out on Android and iOS. For whatever reason, EA marketed this one as a collectible card game, which has led to some confusion, but this game is more comparable to a game like Marvel: Avengers Alliance. Mei, Genji, and D.Va Impressions

Overwatch - Columns

Blizzard unveiled the final three Overwatch heroes at this year’s BlizzCon and I have to say that all three really piqued my curiosity. The new characters joined the Overwatch beta roster in yesterday’s patch and I’ve spent a bit of time taking them all for a spin. Posted Nov 11, 2015 by Michael Bitton

Riot Games’ Ambitious Plans for League of Legends in 2016

League of Legends - Columns

Every League of Legends pre-season brings with it enough changes to really alter the landscape for the upcoming season, and this year is no different. In fact, I’d argue the changes Riot Games has in store for LoL in 2016 are some of its ambitious yet. Posted Nov 4, 2015 by Michael Bitton

Knights of the Fallen Empire - BioWare Ups its Game

Star Wars: The Old Republic - Columns

Star Wars: The Old Republic’s newest expansion, Knights of the Fallen Empire, starts off with a bang and just doesn’t let go. I thought BioWare really upped its game with Shadow of Revan, but I had to check to make sure I was actually still playing SWTOR when I jumped into KOTFE for the first time today. An All-New, All-Different Marvel Heroes 2016

Marvel Heroes Omega - Columns

We’ve been learning about the future of Marvel Heroes in bits and pieces over the last few weeks and this year’s New York Comic-Con was no different. At the show, the Gazillion team was on hand for a panel discussing their plans for the Marvel Heroes 2016 re-brand, but new details were somewhat scant. Posted Oct 14, 2015 by Michael Bitton

Hearthstone's Not-So-Grand Tournament

Hearthstone - Columns

It’s been over a month since Hearthstone’s latest expansion, The Grand Tournament, was released. I think it’s safe to say the dust has settled enough at this point to be able to judge the expansion’s impact on the game. Unfortunately, Hearthstone’s Grand Tournament has been anything but grand for a massive 132 card expansion.Posted Oct 7, 2015 by Michael Bitton

Thanos, Tower Defense, Leaderboards and More in ‘2016’ Relaunch

Marvel Heroes Omega - Columns

I’m not a huge fan of ‘relaunching’ Marvel Heroes every year with a new title, but nevertheless, Gazillion’s got some exciting plans for the game in the ‘Marvel Heroes 2016’ update this fall. Posted Sep 16, 2015 by Michael Bitton

Imperial Companions I’d Like to See Return in KoTFE

Star Wars: The Old Republic - Columns

Not all companions will return in the story of Star Wars: The Old Republic’s upcoming expansion, Knights of the Fallen Empire. We’ve seen Kira Carsen so far, but everyone else is essentially in limbo right now. Posted Sep 9, 2015 by Michael Bitton

The Winners and Losers of The Grand Tournament

Hearthstone - Columns

Hearthstone’s latest expansion, The Grand Tournament, has only been live for about a week now, but there are already some clear winners and losers emerging from all the chaos. This is by no means determinative of where things will be for the rest of the TGT meta, but it’s fun to take a look at things as they are now nonetheless.Posted Sep 2, 2015 by Michael Bitton

Accessible MOBA Fun in Crytek's Arena of Fate

General - Previews

Arena of Fate is an upcoming free-to-play MOBA by the folks at Crytek. Yes, that’s right, another MOBA. You’re probably groaning and shaking your head already, but don’t write it off just yet, this one’s actually fairly interesting. Posted Aug 26, 2015 by Michael Bitton
