Eorzea Reborn: Of Faith, Poetics, and Preorders

Of Faith, Poetics, and Preorders

Hey folks! I hope you don’t mind if I begin this week’s short column with a bit of my shoutout to my father.

Last week was a doozy for me behind the scenes due to my father being in the hospital. Minimal Final Fantasy XIV time for me and a lot of stress, but as of this post, my father is finally home recuperating from what ails him. If you folks could spare some virtual phoenix downs, antidotes, and Medica II heals for my pop as he recuperates, I’d appreciate it.

The past two weeks have actually been quite calm in terms of big announcements, but Square Enix has made some changes to extend the bridge to more level 50 players seeking to complete the story in preparation for the expansion.

Changes have also been made upper echelons of current raid content in order to allow people to make their last few pushes for the high end gear that’ll reportedly last throughout a good chunk of the expansion.

On May 12, patch 2.57 went into action to make the Final Coil of Bahamut and the Steps of Faith Trial a little more manageable for everyone.

Specifically for the Final Coil of Bahamut, the strength of the echo has been increased. Players get 15% more effective in terms of maximum HP, dealt damage, and healing magic potency,

Meanwhile, the Steps of Faith encounter should be slightly easier now given the following adjustments:

  • Vishap's maximum HP has been reduced.
  • The maximum HP of all enemies that spawn has been reduced.
  • Damage dealt by certain enemies has been reduced.
  • Damage dealt by Vishap's underfoot attack has been reduced.
  • Damage dealt by Bertha cannons upon exploding has been reduced.

A May 14 patch also made it easier for people to amass the dungeon-running currency needed for some of the highest-level gear in the game now.

The number of Tomestones of Poetics one can earn weekly has been tweaked a bit to let people earn 900 of it per week, rather than 450 per week previously. While the cap remains at 2,000 Tomestones of Poetics, it does make it easier to hit that cap one or two more times prior to the release of Heavensward.

Lastly, by the time you read this, you should be able to sign into your respective Mog Station accounts on the PC, at least, and redeem your pre-order codes for the expansion. The guide for doing so is available here.

I’ve managed to try it myself, and it seems to be working without a hitch.

Anyway, that’s all the news that’s fit to print for this week! To end, here’s one of the comedy winners from the Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Redubbed Contest The Bikini Girl of Light by Sinndra Sinclaire and Richard Butte of Hyperion. Cheers!
